ANALYST

CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA

POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Reporting to the Lead, Business Solutions, the Workday Business Analyst works closely with the Senior Workday Business Analysts with a focus on supporting Workday HCM Core, Payroll, Time/Absence, Benefits, and Talent. The Workday Business Analyst works closely with SMEs and users with the goal of enhancing the user experience.


The Workday Business Analyst is an active member of the Workday ecosystem keeping informed of weekly/bi-annual releases and new product offerings.

The incumbent has a broad knowledge of HCM Core, Payroll, Time and Absence, and Benefits; assists with Workday release testing; and, participates in researching new functionality and knowledge sharing.


POSITION ACTIVITIES

_ Core Activities:
_


  • Collaborates with developers for system changes, ensures solutions are formally tested, and coordinates regression testing while providing thorough and accurate documentation. Scope of technical configuration includes business process workflow, custom fields, custom validations, custom reports, dashboards, integrations, and access rights.
  • Loads HCM data via EIBs (compensation, training, STIP, etc.) when required
  • Leverages business knowledge and expertise to identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Documents functional requirements and prioritizes work to align with stakeholder priorities, ensuring services and solutions provided meet stakeholders' current and future business needs
  • Designs, builds, tests, deploys, and supports systems and processes to meet requirements while adhering to change control and agile best practices
  • Helps develop and maintain training materials. Identifies innovative new ways to disseminate best practices and increase end user engagement.
  • Prepares communications and delivers presentations to educate stakeholders on enhancement opportunities and process improvements through new functionality delivered during system updates
  • Cultivates and coordinates relationships with stakeholders; frequently interacts with leaders and crossfunctional partners of varying technical aptitudes to set strategic guidance and effectively influence decisionmaking
  • Stakeholder and system requirements are dynamic so must maintain the pace of innovation provided by Workday and acquire new skills and knowledge to keep up with the shifting landscape
  • Collaborates with other organizations in the Workday Community and Ottawa user group to share knowledge and create and/or adhere to industry best practices. Pursues opportunities that will allow the organization to provide input on system enhancements and Workday's product road map.
  • Participates in release and implementation planning for system fixes and enhancements
  • Supports other HRMS systems (e.g. Jobvite)

  • Stays firmly connected to business units to maintain knowledge of upcoming changes to existing or new policies, procedures, and programs in HR and Payroll
  • Maintains knowledge of business processes and business rules through close work with the various ecosystems
  • Keeps current on emerging solutions, improvements, and deprecated functionality for the respective areas of functional expertise
  • Conducts research, evaluates, and provides recommendations on software products/trends/enhancements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Computer Science, or a related field of study is required
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience working with HRMS software is required experience working with all areas and modules of an HRMS software (e.g. payroll, HR, benefits, recruitment, etc.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of Workday HCM system experience
  • Good understanding of Employment Standards Act legislation
  • Excellent knowledge of HR workflow, policies, and procedures
  • Experience building custom reports in Workday
  • Experience providing user support and advice, analyzing data, working in crossfunctional departments, facilitating meetings, and delivering presentations
  • Experience in coordinating projects, including understanding the project management lifecycle
  • Experience in supporting the development of strategies, programs and solutions, and facilitating their implementation
  • Experience with gathering business requirements, preparing user stories, and process mapping
  • Business Analyst and/or Project Management Professional certification is an asset
