As a
Supervisor, Canadian History Research Centre (CHRC), you will be responsible for supervising the employees of the CRHC section, a multidisciplinary team that brings together specialists from various fields (copyrights, archives, artefacts, audiovisual collections and the library); overseeing the operations offered by the CHRC in order to better promote the centre's role as the destination providing access to unique resources; ensuring that requests for information on the collections, questions of copyright, visits to the collections as well as the services offered by the library meet the standards of the Museum in terms of services to the public (external and internal) and that they adhere to the obligations of the Museum; organizing and supervising the services offered by the CHRC, such as the development and review of processes, protocols and tools related to the services of the section; and participating in the management of the section, i.e.

planning in terms of human and financial resources in order to meet the operational needs of the Research Centre.

  • Ability to communicate the section's vision and align work plans and objectives to achieve this vision;
  • Ability to supervise and promote commitment within a team;
  • Ability to develop staff, offer mentorship and provide feedback;
  • Initiative, proactivity and oriented towards continuous improvement;
  • Ability to establish good working relationships and demonstrate collaboration with other sections and divisions.

Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in:

  • Supervising a multidisciplinary team;
  • Managing financial, human, and material resources;
  • Coordinating and hosting activities for the public;
  • Overall planning and implementing various (complex and short, medium or longterm) projects;
  • Researching specialized information and establishing targeted dissemination strategies, standards, and methods (an asset);
  • Using cultural products, collections, and research results for different products (exhibitions, publications, Web, etc.) (an asset).

Knowledge of:


  • General principles of customer service and public service delivery;
  • Planning and coordination of heritage and cultural development activities in a multipurpose space;
  • Procedures, practices, and standards for libraries, archiving, digitization, and photography;
  • General practices related to referral services and access centres;
  • Legal obligations with respect to copyright (an asset).

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (History, Anthropology, Archeology, Museum Studies, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Compensation:
E7 ($82,026 to $101,513)


Status:
Permanent Full-Time Position (# 10221)

Location: 100, Laurier Street, Gatineau, Quebec and possibility of hybrid work according to the needs of the position
