Position Summary
The Princess Margaret Genomics Centre is seeking a temporary full-time Research Technician II.

As an integral team member at the Genomics Centre, a UHN core facility, the research technician must be dedicated and result-driven and will be involved in all aspects of service projects, following SOPs and meeting target deadlines.

There will be a special emphasis on techniques for single cell and single nucleus genomics (e.g. 10x Genomics).

Duties
Working under the direction of senior staff, the successful applicant will:

Perform experiments and analysis;
Communicate and maintain records of experimental data.
Onboarding of samples from and communication with clients
Entry of sample and library information into LIMS
Fresh cell suspension fixation
Frozen sample fixation and dissociation
FFPE sample dissociation
10x Genomics Flex library production using fixed cell sample inputs
Final library QC by BioAnalyzer

Qualifications

BSc in genomics, molecular biology or related discipline or higher
3 years related experience is required.
At least 2 years of experience with standard molecular biology laboratory techniques is required such as:
Experience with PCR reaction set up and purification
Live mammalian cell handling, including accurate cell counting and dilution
A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and accurately under deadlines
Meticulous and detailoriented
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment
Experience with single cell technologies is considered an asset.
