Salary:
$25.10 to $31.38 per hour
Hours: 15 hours per week (Mon, Wed, Fri, 9am to 2pm)

Status:
Temporary Part-Time (Approx. 18 months)


POSITION:
The responsibilities of the
Diet Technician include: assisting the Clinical Dietitians in providing patient centered nutrition care.

In addition, the Diet Technician performs a variety of activities to ensure the efficient and effective provision of nutrition care including educational and QA responsibilities, on-going communication with the supervising dietitian and other key players, including Nutrition Services, to ensure information is completed in a timely fashion.

Applicants will be interviewed by the selection panel and will possess the qualifications listed below.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a Community College Diploma program in Food and Nutrition, or recognized equivalent
  • Completion of a degree in Food and Nutrition from a recognized university is preferred
  • One year related experience is preferred
  • Experience working in a teaching hospital environment is preferred
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Completion of the written examination to obtain membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition management (C.S.N.M) is required within the first year of employment
  • Therapeutic nutrition knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of food preparation and food allergies
  • Knowledge of CBORD/Diet Office management and PDA system
  • Computer literacy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Ability to work effectively in a teamorientated environment
  • Ability to focus on priorities
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
  • Compliance with confidentiality
  • Client service oriented with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, background and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
