Emilio Romo

Hi, my name is Emilio Romo, and I'm an international student from Mexico, born and raised until I moved on my own to Canada in 2023 at 16 y/o. I strongly believe that moving here forced me to mature in different ways, no relying on anyone on things where I did before, it definitely help me realize that I hate messiness and need to have a system for organization that I have to follow. Even though I wouldn't consider my self a morning person per se, I would say that I will try my hardest to get everything that I have to do as early as possible to get tasks over. More about me personally, I love hiking and sunrises, I do think they are better than sunsets, I love staying feet but I also love eating a lot, I love sports overall but my main sports are football, which I practiced for over a decade, American football and volleyball, this last one I never practiced it but I'm always down to play some volleyball because I find it super fun, during my childhood I practiced some other sports like swimming, gymnastics, Tae Kwon Do, etc. Normally I'm more of a reserved person and will always prefers to be home or listen to music rather than going out or talk to people, but it is something that I'm working on to be more social and connect more with people. 

I've had very little professional experience, but I believe it helped a lot. In 2022 I had a job at a local store for 4 months as a cashier, where people asked for an item, price and I had to ask for the money, very common and in 2024 I got a summer internship for 2 months at a corporate events company where I helped them go over their balance sheet, taxing documents, reconciliations statements, among other financial documents and helping with the organization of one event, helping buying and scheduling flights to bring in the guests from different parts of the country. The name if this last company is Medro Producciones y Servicios 

So far the highest level of education is high school, I attended and graduated Appleby College for the last 2 years of my high school, there I had incredible experiences, as a human being facing challenges like living on my own in a different country and living in English in a 24/7 environment, but also, I had to learn how to learn in English, I knew English prior to moving, I was fluent and think I was pretty good at it, but learning stuff and having to retain information in a foreign language, taking notes, studying was a complete different thing. All the struggles, the Canadian studying system was also very different and presented an enormous challenge, back home I just had to attend classes, pay some attention take notes, do some quick studying before an exam or test and that was more than enough to get an easy 90% or higher, no struggles or complications, but here, I learned pretty quickly that was not gonna be the case, at least for me. By the end of high school I wasn't a super performing student or something like that but I did manage to be good enough.
