About Jaya Ragavan:
I am a dedicated professional with strong leadership and management skills, capable of motivating students and staff to achieve their full potential in educational programs. With extensive teaching experience across various subjects and age groups, I possess a well-rounded understanding of diverse learning needs. My curriculum design and development are research-driven, ensuring the best possible learning outcomes.
Experience
I have had the privilege of working in various part-time teaching roles as a Statistics and Mathematics Lecturer in Dubai, UAE. From January 2010 to July 2016, I taught Basic Statistics to degree students at Middlesex University, covering topics such as frequency distributions, probability concepts, and hypotheses testing. I take pride in receiving enthusiastic praise from my students for my effective teaching methodologies and my approachable demeanour.
During my tenure at the University of Wollongong from June 2005 to June 2006, I taught Calculus, Matrices, and basic Statistics. To enhance learning, I used software to demonstrate real-world applications of the course material, making it more engaging and relevant for students.
In more recent years, from September 2020 to December 2020, I served as an Adjunct Professor at the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI). There, I taught "NETWORKS, COMPLEXITY, AND THEIR APPLICATIONS" to third-year design students. It was a rewarding experience to develop the entire program, including presentations, assignments, and grading criteria. This role also sparked my personal interest in exploring the new heights of Statistics as a lifelong learner.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven by a passion for sharing my knowledge of Statistics and Mathematics, fostering a positive and effective learning environment. Being able to see my students grow and succeed in their understanding of the subject has been the most fulfilling aspect of my teaching journey.
