I took a brief hiatus from paid writing roles to spend quality time with my aging grandparents in Revelstoke, B.C., where the market for writing careers is limited. Since being laid off from Starbucks in September 2025, I have been eager to continue my writing and editing career with more enthusiasm than ever.
For two years, I contributed my editorial excellence to newspapers and magazines, including taking on the leadership role of Managing Editor at The Cascade. In that role, I was responsible for managing 15-20 staff members, performing administrative duties, and working with the Creative Director to decide the cover of each issue. I possess expertise in Microsoft Office, Wix website development, Google Workspace, and Canva, but am willing and able to learn new technologies. In fact, I am eligible for a WorkBC wage subsidy for BC-based employers.
Experience
I have built a strong editorial career spanning multiple roles from 2023 to 2025. Most recently, I served as a Prose Editorial Board Member at PRISM international (August 2024 – October 2025), where I reviewed 10-15 creative writing submissions monthly and provided feedback to maintain high publication standards. Previously at The Cascade, I progressed through three positions: Managing Editor (January – April 2024), where I enhanced team communication and trained new staff; Culture Editor (August – December 2023), where I wrote and edited articles while developing unique content like horoscopes and puzzles; and Junior News Editor (March – June 2023), where I produced biweekly articles with thorough research and fact-checking. I also served as an Editorial Board Member for Louden Singletree (January – March 2023), evaluating creative submissions and managing promotional strategies including designing marketing materials with Canva.
Education
I earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English: Creative Writing from the University of the Fraser Valley, completing the program from September 2019 to June 2024. Throughout my studies, I developed expertise in creative writing, constructive criticism, and essay-writing through a diverse range of English courses.
