About Jefrey Momen:

I do functional and accessibility testing. I worked at Scotiabank through an agency called Tech Mahindra Ltd. I started as a functional tester. I conducted functional testing on various applications. I then switched to Accessibility testing (performing accessibility testing on both desktop and native apps). I became the accessibility test lead. I trained functional testers on how to conduct accessibility testing in sessions including up to 35 people.

  • Conducted accessibility testing on mobile devices (both Android and iOS) and desktop PC on both customer and employee facing applications following WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 A and AA standards.
  • Conducted analysis of the report from automated accessibility scan using WAVE, AXE and LightHouse.
  • Documented and monitored defects in JIRA for failures with various compatible browsers.
  • Helped and guided development team to remediate accessibility issues.
  • Conducted wireframe/design reviews and created comprehensive test plans.
  • Served as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to answer technical questions from any project concerning accessibility and successfully enabled them to integrate accessibility and WCAG-compliance into requirements, design and implementation phases of their projects.
  • Trained functional testers in groups of up to 35 people from different projects on how to perform accessibility testing.
  • Taught all the tools and techniques necessary in desktop and mobile accessibility testing: Keyboard Navigation, Screen Reader (NVDA, JAWS), Text Resize, High Contrast, Grayscale, Color Contrast Analyzer, VoiceOver, Switch Control, TalkBack, Switch Access, AXE, WAVE, Chrome LightHouse.
  • Trained developers on best practices, common errors and unit testing.
  • Conducted formal reviews with different projects on test results and provided consultative advice on accessibility best practices.
  • Looked ahead and provided advice and guidance for potential future accessibility roadblocks.
  • Interviewed and selected candidates for accessibility tester positions.
  • Helped raise service requests with vendors of applications (like PEGA) that are not accessibility compatible for solutions to major shortcomings.
  • Worked closely with center of excellence (COE) in creating and updating the accessibility Confluence page for the bank, including making short videos to give an overview of accessibility guidelines and testing.
  • Managed offshore accessibility testers including meetings outside of office hours to account for time difference.
  • Presented accessibility on Quality Conference (QualCon) and answered questions to visitors/participants to help raise awareness on accessibility, human rights and institution and government mandates.
  • Conducted accessibility testing in French.

  • Analyzed project design documents, business requirement documents and functional specifications to develop detail test cases and test suites.
  • Performed comprehensive integrated system testing manually on multiple versions of the application on various hardware platforms.
  • Performed GUI, functional, accessibility, sanity and regression (manual and automation) testing on mobile and web applications prior to releasing build to QAT team on weekly basis.
  • Closely worked with Project Lead, Business Analyst, Development team and QAT team on testing process.
  • Reported defects to Project Lead and Development Team, tracked and monitored software issue tickets with HP ALM and JIRA.
  • Verified issues raised by QAT Team in HP ALM and JIRA, retested issues with new fixed build and reported on daily basis.
  • Managed projects with offshore team members to ensure 24-hour testing and maintenance.

Broadcast System Designer (On Contract)                             September 2011 – December 2011

Radio – Canada International

  • Worked on the development of Advanced Television Systems Committee - Mobile/Handheld (ATSC - M/H) system for broadcasting live TV on Montreal public transit (STM) buses.
  • Programmed the signal receiver to capture Mobile/Handheld signals while the bus is in motion.
  • Coded to display live streaming on the top left of the screen (through resizing pixels to occupy that position), weather forecast on the right side (through live feed from URL and constant update of the URL every 10 minutes) and scrolling advertisements on the bottom of the screen.
