Jonathan Bradet-Legris

I have a bachelor's degree in Mathematics with minors in Computer Science and Biochemistry. During my undergraduate education I've worked in a biology lab helping with research on ticks and Lyme disease and wrote my thesis on category theory, an abstract field in mathematics.

After that I decided to take my math skills to the applied side by doing a master's degree in statistics, where I was also able to incorporate my knowledge in programming and life sciences. I wrote my thesis in oceanography where I made species distribution models of phytoplankton in the Pacific Ocean and used Bayesian linear regression to determine the amount of organic carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus found within different groups of these phytoplankton.

I've now worked one year in the industry as a data scientist in the telecommunications industry at Eastlink and am looking forward to continue developing my career as a data scientist.

• Responsible for conducting data analysis projects and showing result to stakeholders with clear data visualization.
• Major projects included customer segmentation and a predictive model for finding new buyers of smart home
services.
• Working with python and SQL on a daily basis, whether updating legacy code or coding entirely new projects.
 

Data Analyst (Contract) Feb. 2021 – March 2021

• Was responsible for doing data analysis on at-risk bird species data and developing species distribution models.
Results were used to inform the forestry industry and conservation efforts in Nova Scotia.

Master’s Degree Sept. 2018 – Dec. 2020

• Developed species distribution models of phytoplankton in the Pacific Ocean using a number of statistical methods,
including: linear regression, LASSO, generalized additive models, machine learning, Bayesian linear regression.
