About Kat Kawecki:

I have 8 years of experience in Product Management, Project Management, Planning, and Delivery of SaaS products, apps for mobile and web across the health, wellness, medical and banking industries. I’m a creative Product Manager passionate about product design, development, go to market strategy and product life management. It is my nature with every project to become an expert in the field through rigorous research to create authentic solutions. I ask the question ‘why?’ until I find the true core of the design problem to deliver value.

I ran my own medtech startup company, Respia Technologies, creating good asthma management and rethinking the way we manage chronic respiratory diseases. Respia utilized machine learning to actively predict and prevent asthma attacks. I lead and worked with a dynamic passionate team, developing the next wave of intelligent health technology.

This work has been recognized by respiratory specialists, industry leaders in medical devices and received the James Dyson Award, Red Dot Award and Good Design Australia Award. Patent lodged at regional stage.

Beyond my work, I enjoy rhythm guitar, latin dance, skiing, scuba diving and yoga.

Education

I completed my four year degree of Industrial Design with Honors at the University
of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia in 2015. My capstone
project-turned-startup, Respia, placed International Runner Up in the James
Dyson Award 2016 and was centred around the user experience of managing
asthma. Respia engages the user with their condition and empowers them
through accurate information about their medication usage and lung health,
whilst battling the stigma around what it looks and feels like to manage asthma.
Over a four-year span, I managed Respia Technologies, leading and liaising
between engineers, doctors, designers, commercial and IP lawyers, regulatory and
QMS consultants, investors, product users and buyers in both B2B and B2C
channels. I grew the company from an idea to a valuation over $1 million USD, and
successfully raised over $150,000 USD for the project through venture capital,
awards and government grants. I secured strategic partnerships with Dyson and
the Sydney Childrens Hospital to champion and pilot the product in a clinical study
led by world-class respiratory specialist doctors.
