Mateusz Janowski

I have been working actively in the nuclear industry since 2008 providing expertise in the areas of design support, design engineering, performance engineering and site projects.  I am well versed with the regulations and requirements of CSA N285/286 under which Canadian nuclear power plants are governed. I Have knowledge of the complexities involved with nuclear project work and a thorough understanding of the engineering aspects involved with creating, implementing and completing design changes in the field.  I have experience with radiological and conventional safety and the potential it has for adversely affecting field work and project schedules.  I have experience working with environmentally sensitive station systems and their involvement with environmental regulators and waste management initiatives.

Over my 10 years in the Nuclear Industry, the rules that govern safety and behaviours are fundamentally ingrained in my everyday activities which I perform to the highest standards.  I believe that with all of my past experience and current skill-set I would be a valuable and versatile addition to your team.  I have excellent communication and organizational skills, I am a self-starter and strive to produce work of the highest quality always looking to improve and drive for higher standards.

Currently I am working on the MCR (Major Component Replacement) project in the capacity of a Quality Assurance Supervisor.  I am responsible for maintaining adherence to the Nuclear Pressure Boundary Code and QA program.  I provide technical review of material specifications, reviewing and comparing component requirements against component technical specifications. These requirements are then captured in Work Planning packages which involves the development, review and acceptance of Inspection and Test Plans for the work required to refurbish CANDU reactors. I support development of QA processes and procedures and ensure compliance during field execution. 

Prior to this I have worked as a Performance Improvement Coordinator in the areas of Human Performance, Operational Experience, Self-Improvement and Corrective Action/Investigations.  I managed and provided support and oversight for nuclear programs to improve the performance of the many functional areas within a business. 

I have extensive experience working as a Project Engineer.  The Feeder Inspection and Feeder Replacement Tooling Projects further allowed me to demonstrate my abilities with specialized reactor tool designs, tolerances, safety requirements and an understanding of the nuclear tooling qualification requirements/criteria as per CIQB (CANDU Inspection Qualification Board). I have experience negotiating vendor contracts through multiple rounds of proposal clarifications and Terms & Conditions discussions.  I participated in vendor facility and reactor mockup tours for Quality Control, managed deliverables from multiple vendors and coordinated project design reviews.

As a qualified Project Control Specialist and Field Team Leader,  I supported the Reactor Tooling Design Group in January 2016, working with vendors and managing stakeholders and resources.  I provided Owners Engineering support to review and verify vendor drawing packages after hours and over the weekends during my time off to ensure the tooling was ready for the SFCR outage window.  I have experience with projects involving field equipment design, installation, commissioning and available for service closeout.  I have completed a Class 1 Pressure Boundary Certificate of Authorization renewal project which was a critically important Bruce Power priority overseen by the Chief Engineer.  I worked directly with the Engineering Support Division Department Manager, the Pressure Boundary Programs Manager and Senior Management Oversight.
