    Description

    Your Opportunity:

    This role offers a unique opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, where they will provide specialized care to patients post cardiac, heart, lung, and heart/lung transplant surgeries. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, the nurse will be involved in all aspects of patient care, from assessment to evaluation, making collaborative decisions with the team.

    Description:

    As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will deliver a diverse range of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, prioritizing their safety and well-being. Your responsibilities will include employing critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, along with providing education, counseling, and advocacy for patients and their families. You will take a lead in promoting integrated and holistic patient care, emphasizing health promotion and safety. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with AHS's vision and values.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
    • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
    • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
    • Successful completion of specified free courses if no recent RN practice

    Additional Required Qualifications:

    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) - Health Care Provider registration through Heart & Stroke
    • One to two years of recent Cardiothoracic ICU experience
    • Completion of OPACCA program or equivalent Critical Care certification
    • Current certifications in various specialized procedures
    • Charge RN experience in CVICU
    • Demonstrated strong assessment, organizational, and patient care skills
    • Effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities
