Position Overview:


As part of the Customer Solutions Team, this position will be responsible for managing Mining Machine product reliability and performance.

The objective is to improve customer satisfaction by working with the Customer's key personnel, the Mining Equipment Management team, Caterpillar (District and Product Groups), Finning's branch operations, sales and marketing groups to ensure that Mining Machines in the region are being supported through a defined Product Problem Management process including overall machine health, reliability, durability and performance.

For this position, the expected salary range is between $120,000 - $130,000 annually. This range reflects our commitment to providing competitive compensation that aligns with industry standards and your qualifications.


Job Description:


Major Job Functions:

  • Manage Mining Machine product reliability issues, including formal documentation, tracking and communicating top technical & commercial issues. Develop, track and communicate Mining Machine KPI's.
  • Identify and work with key Customer personnel (operations and maintenance) to ensure relationships are developed and built to enable the clear communication in identifying Mining Machine product performance issues, the reliability/durability issues and opportunities along with the equipment management strategies and best practices.
  • Work with Finning branch personal to identify and manage Mining Machine product issues, along with reliability/durability opportunities. Manage Mining Machine test parts and documentation.
  • Work with Caterpillar Field Engineers, along with CGM district Reps and product groups to support Mining Machines.
  • Work with remanufacturing/rebuild facilities and Finning CRC'S to support Mining Machine components, to manage product reliability /durability and provide direction on the common process to identify, track and communicate Mining Machine information.
  • From the reoccurring/repetitive issue list formalize commercial product support from Caterpillar where none exists or support does not provide fair value and requires modification. Work with district team to develop CSL as required
  • Write and distribute technical documents relating to Mining Machines, such as but not limited to, local support programs, mining best practice, technical information release, special instructions, and technical reports.
  • Support branch management in customer interface meetings.
  • Support the sales, marketing, technology and contracts teams with technical input relating to Mining Machines.
  • Provide tertiary technical support to the Mining product line when required

  • Thorough knowledge of Finning health and safety policies and procedures
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of SIS, Dealer Connect, CatDealer, ET and VIMS
  • Strong understanding on condition monitoring including SOS
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines and hydraulic systems
  • Strong understanding of Mining Machine components, pumps, cylinders, structures etc.
  • Working knowledge of PSCRM, DSN, DPPM, CPI platforms
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite including communication and collaboration platforms
  • Sound and current knowledge of Finning products and services
  • Product warranty knowledge

  • Complete understanding of Finning's work order cycle

Education & Experience:

  • Journeyman certification in Heavy Duty Technician trade
  • Post-Secondary education in a relevant field, for example technical degree from NAIT/SAIT would be an asset
  • Large Mining Machine experience would be an asset
