Levitt-Safety has an exciting opportunity for a Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Supervisor to join our team in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Job Summary


In this working role, you will oversee the Fire Alarm and Sprinkler division, with a focus on major service accounts.

Reporting to and in conjunction with the service manager, you will implement best management practices, providing training to team members, and ensuring they meet customer requirements as outlined in RFQs.

Also responsible for leadership in Health and Safety, mentoring service technicians, and maintaining safe work practices.

From a quality assurance and control standpoint, you will contribute by inspecting and auditing fire systems in buildings to ensure they meet standards.

Communication of these standards and project scoping for customers is part of the role, with an emphasis on growing the Fire Alarm/Sprinkler Division.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective management of manpower resources by providing daily guidance, direction, training, and auditing to maintain a safe workplace and ensure compliance with safe work practices.
  • Foster business, safety, and operational knowledge among team members, encouraging a positive attitude and respect for Levitt's Basic Principles.
  • Onboard new technicians and clearly define job expectations.
  • Oversee training in accordance with policy, audit training processes, offer input for performance reviews, and coach for success, with all training documented and filed with HR.
  • Ensure staff training and certifications are uptodate.
  • Collaborate closely with the Service Manager to achieve business plan goals.
  • Provide proper site orientations for all technicians and regularly review site rules to ensure compliance.
  • Demonstrate bestinclass health and safety leadership by leading weekly toolbox safety meetings, maintaining records, conducting job hazard analyses, and upholding high safety standards daily.
  • Monitor safe work practices, safety training, compliance with provincial and local codes, and adherence to the COR program, holding team leaders accountable and overseeing safetyrelated matters like first aid kits and eyewash stations.
  • Ensure proper documentation, such as FLRA, vehicle inspections, TDG forms, is completed to maintain COR certification.
  • Review and approve FLRAs, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of accidents, incidents, and injuries.
  • Update and review existing Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and collaborate with the Quality team to revise or create policies as needed.
  • Participate in Levittsponsored Leadership Training initiatives regularly while also maintaining industry certifications.
  • Conduct 10 field audits per shift to ensure technicians adhere to Levitt Safety's quality and standards.
  • Assist in managing the vehicle maintenance program to align with ARI standards.
  • Ensure that all staff's appearance aligns with operational goals.
  • Maintain calibrated service test equipment when applicable, conduct random tool audits, manage service shop ISO procedures, and maintain a clean and organized shop to reduce safety hazards.
  • Lead by example by being present in the field and onsite.
  • Prepare quotes for customers and participate in onsite scoping of major projects while managing team members.
Job Requirements

  • 5 years experience as a ticketed CFAA or Journey Man Sprinkler Fitter.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Ideally, 2 years of Fort McMurray area operations experience.
  • Knowledge of COR Certification and Alberta safety standards.
  • Comfortable with changing demands and ability to think on one's feet.
  • Knowledge of different site requirements.
  • Ability to supervise a working team and solve emergencies as and when they come up.
