Position Summary
CIMCO Refrigeration is looking for a Quality Control Inspector to work within our Manufacturing Division.

We are a high mix/low volume custom job shop that fabricates a wide range of products including a limited number of standard catalogue-type ASME Code pressure vessels, skid mounted pre-piped packaged equipment assemblies, and electrical control panels.

You will be responsible for providing Quality Control Surveillance for all of our products fabricated to ASME Codes.


Role Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Quality Control Manager for daily job inspections/updates
  • Material receiving inspections and preparing inspection reports
  • Performs fabrication inspections: checking layout, fitup, alignment, welding, internal cleanliness, final dimensions, dewatering
  • Conducts hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure test inspections
  • Inspects ASME VIII1 pressure vessels, and prepares Manufacturer's Data Reports
  • Inspects ASME B31.5 refrigeration piping and B31.3 process piping and prepares Piping Data Reports
  • Prepares fabrication inspection plans
  • Applies ASME inspection requirements against fabrication drawings, and ensures compliance with CRN's and Canadian jurisdictional requirements
  • Ensures welders are following WPS's and supporting PQR's
  • Performs LPI and Visual Inspection on welds as required
  • Issues Non-Conformance Reports as may be required during fabrication
  • Calibrates pressure gauges and measuring instruments and prepares calibration reports
  • Communicates with Authorized Inspectors and implements inspection schedules
  • Liaise with other Company departments as necessary
  • Maintains records
  • Attends twiceweekly Contact Meetings with personnel representing the following groups: shop floor, engineering, quality control, and purchasing
  • Updates Production Department regarding status on projects

Required Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience within Quality Control in a manufacturing environment involving welding
  • Certification as a CWB Level 1 Welding Inspector or ability to obtain same would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of the construction of pressure vessels and piping system in accordance with applicable ASME Codes; welding knowledge; nondestructive testing experience
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Ability to ready and interpret technical specifications and drawings
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Comfortable operating computers and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Able to work alone or in a collaborative team environment and accept responsibility for work performed
  • Strong time management skills able to deal with conflicts and meet deadlines
  • Detailoriented, ability to multitask and prioritize tasks

Education Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma or equivalent, preferably in technical fields
