Out of Scope

Permanent, Full Time (Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week)


Location:
Edmonton, Alberta


This role is eligible for hybrid working arrangements - this means you'll have the flexibility of working from home and in the office (in Edmonton), on a scheduled rotation once training requirements have been met.

Until then, the successful incumbent will be expected to work on-site, full-time.

Key Accountabilities


Policy Processing Calculates premiums, ensuring that appropriate rates are used and that applicable discounts and surcharges are applied.- Ensures that product and customer service levels are maintained.


Insurance Underwriting- Determines whether to accept, modify or escalate risks.- Places business within the rules and restrictions of subscription, reinsurance and legislative guidelines.


Broker Relationships- Explains underwriting criteria and decisions to brokers (verbally and/or in writing).- Develops and maintains working relationships with brokers to generate a flow of profitable business and provide assistance in resolving any service matters.- Promotes and sells supporting products to brokers.- Negotiates conditions, premiums and limitations for routine renewal policies to balance business needs and underwriting guidelines in limited situations (in applicable positions only).

Administrative Support- Reviews and dispatches underwriting submissions.- Maintains filing systems.- Provides administrative support to the underwriting team.


Leadership- Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.- Participates in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development and supports development in others.- Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies.- Is actively committed to leadership development across the company, supporting team and workforce readiness through mentoring, training and developmental opportunities.


Corporate Management- Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.- Manages risk in area of authority.- Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.


Education & Experience- A one-year certificate from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such Business and specializing in insurance and risk management years' directly related experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of office procedures and office equipment.- Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Word and Excel.- Knowledge of underwriting procedures.- Knowledge of the principles and practice of insurance.
