    The City of Abbotsford's IT Department is seeking a GIS professional, self-motivated individual with proven skills and experience working in a fast-paced environment to join our GIS team. The City is implementing a digital strategy for our internal and external processes. Our GIS team is growing and expanding to support the increasing demand for GIS services in the City. You will be part of the team that delivers and supports these modern GIS technologies, aiming to provide users with an excellent experience underpinned by strong project delivery and efficient IT operational practices.

    This senior position assists the GIS Manager and various other stakeholders in defining the City's overall business architecture, technology, spatial information plans, and goal setting. Reporting to the GIS Manager, this position collaborates with the City's departments and Information Systems to understand key business objectives and technological capabilities to provide fully integrated business solutions utilizing multiple technology platforms.

    The Business Solution Coordinator is responsible for GIS project management and business analysis. This position provides technical expertise in developing and implementing integrated strategic business initiatives and solutions that utilize or interface with GIS to meet the business needs of both internal and external City of Abbotsford clients.

    As the successful candidate you will have considerable knowledge in information technology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), project management and demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to plan, coordinate, direct, and evaluate the work of GIS employees. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills including presentation skills.

    In order to be considered for this position you must have:

  • Diploma in a related discipline supplemented by an Advanced Diploma in Geographic Information Systems.
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible and technical experience, managing small to medium business solutions or related projects across multiple technology platforms, including two years of supervisory experience;
  • Certification in project management (PMP), business analysis (CCBA, CBAP), GIS (GISP) or a relevant ESRI Certificate (CORE or SPECIALTY) Associate and Professional level.
  • Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
    This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $50.04 to $58.85 per hour. In addition, the City of Abbotsford offers a comprehensive benefits package.
