What You'll Do:
The Project Development Manager plays a key role as part of our Hydrogen development team.

Reporting to the Head of Development, Hydrogen, you will lead the project development activities for select hydrogen projects in Northland's portfolio across the Americas spanning from initial stages through the start of construction as well as greenfield initiatives for new opportunities.

Frequent travel to project sites is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of hydrogen projects.
  • Lead the permitting process, community outreach, land acquisition, environmental programs and interconnection process for select hydrogen projects while supporting with procurement, technical and legal aspects.
  • Stakeholder engagement and relationship management, including managing thirdparty contractors (i.e., permitting, environmental, technical) for various workstreams in order to deliver a fully developed project.
  • Lead procurement processes for EPCs and major equipment vendors while collaborating with the broader development, origination, construction, and engineering teams.
  • Support preconstruction activities including detailed engineering and procurement
  • Create and track project development plans, schedules and budgets for development projects and manage project progress towards task deadlines while identifying critical path challenges, project resource constraints and requirements.
  • Develop and provide project status updates to Northland's project team.
  • Gather relevant information to identity risks on projects and subsequently prepare and propose mitigation measures to resolve.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation databases and reports and assist in the preparation of project and portfolio progress, risks, and solutions for communication to the executive leadership team.
  • Monitor and manage key policy developments that impact projects, involvement with trade associations.
  • Responsible for greenfielding new project portfolios under direction from management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University bachelor's degree (Engineering considered an asset).
  • 8+ years of direct experience in hydrogen and/or renewable project development or construction.
  • Previous experience with projects in Nova Scotia and/or Ontario is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding and experience in the hydrogen or renewable project development process
  • Working knowledge of environmental and regulatory permit compliance and restrictions.
  • Knowledge of electrolyzer and ammonia production technology and vendors.
  • Experience with ArcGIS and MS Project or Primavera P6 is a plus.
  • Fluent English required, Spanish is a plus.
