Bring your knowledge of cultural heritage conservation and land-use planning principles and practices to the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism to support heritage conservation in Ontario.
Heritage Planning Unit
Provides advisory services related to cultural heritage within the provincial land use planning framework and leads implementation of the Standards and Guidelines for Conservation of Provincial Heritage Properties across the government of Ontario.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:
- lead/participate in implementing statutory and regulatory frameworks, policies and programs to support the identification, evaluation, conservation and stewardship of the province's cultural heritage resources
- lead/participate in researching, developing, writing and implementing documents such as operational policies, procedures, technical guidance and information bulletins
- provide technical advice and support to sector, government and agency representatives, as well as the public, on heritage conservation practices and relevant government priorities, policies, legislation and regulations
How do I qualify?:
Mandatory:
Technical expertise:
- You possess knowledge of heritage resource conservation and its legislation, architectural history, theories, principles, practices and techniques to provide expert advice, consultation and explanation regarding heritage policy, legislation, conservation, etc.
- You possess knowledge of heritage planning techniques/technology, project management, urban design, land use planning, community heritage interests, and operations.
Communication and interpersonal skills:
- You have advanced communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice to partners, clients and stakeholders on matters related to heritage conservation, within the context of provincial policy, legislation, regulations and programming and to prepare timely and accurate advice to senior decisionmakers.
- You have listening skills to understand and respect the differing cultures, interests, mandates, objectives and opinions of individuals, organizations and communities.
- You have well developed negotiation skills to identify and resolve differences and potential conflict, propose creative solutions, build consensus and collaborate on agreed objectives.
Project management and leadership skills:
- You have project management skills to plan, manage, report on and deliver multiple undertakings on time and with limited direct supervision.
- You have the ability to identify and act on individual and team project priorities, timelines and required tasks, work collaboratively on multiple teams, either as lead or contributor.
Analytical skills:
- You have research, analytical and problemsolving skills to synthesize complex information derived from multiple sources, articulate insights and conclusions, place them in a broad policy, legislative and regulatory context and to exercise sound judgement in advising or acting on your findings.
