Position Summary


This position is part of a team that is responsible for the Operational duties of the Calgary Stampede that supports the vision of a World Class Gathering Place through site cleaning and maintenance.

Daily activities of the team include but are not limited to landscape maintenance, recycling and waste control, construction support, general labouring duties and light to heavy equipment operating to support operations activities.

This position reports to the Manager, Park Operations, Park and Facility Services.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Adhere to Calgary Stampede policies and procedures.
  • Work with, and continue to develop the team responsible for, but not limited to, general labourer duties, equipment operations, site cleanliness, painting, waste and recycling, duties, snow removal, landscaping general maintenance, fleet cleanliness, construction labour and miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
  • Monitoring of department commitments.
  • Safety awareness and coaching to develop a Safe Work Site and understand and coach best practices for Health and Safety and Environmental Policies in the workplace.
  • Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and maximization of the Park Maintenance and the Stampede Operation budgets and manage budgets over 1milliondollars.
  • Work with supervisors to produce a schedule that meets the department commitments in a timely manner.
  • Monitor project progress, with the supervisors, to ensure staff and resources are suitable and appropriate to meet department objectives.
  • Work with supervisors on the instruction and coaching of employees to assist them in understanding the expectation of their tasks, duties, and our Brand.
  • Accurate completion and auditing of department paperwork, including but not limited to, inspection documents, quotes, and event files.
  • Complete daily communication logs, sheets or reports, document event, project or task status to team and ensure required immediate actions or tasks have been addressed.
  • Regular updates to Manager, Park Operations on department success and development requirements.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and issues to the Manager, Park Operations.
  • Additional duties as assigned to support Park and Facility Services objectives.

Qualifications
They will have three to five years' experience in a Foreman or Supervisory capacity as well as:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess the ability to analyze, forecast and use critical thinking to assist with the department budgeting process and manage budgets over 1milliondollars.
  • Heavy equipment operation experience, or landscaping supervision would be an asset.
  • Ability to lead, develop, coach, and motivate staff to achieve and succeed.
  • Capability to multitask, meet strict deadlines and effectively deal with changing circumstances.
  • Possess and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of SmartSheet would be an asset.
  • Ability to monitor and work with team to prioritize tasks and projects.
  • Short and medium planning skills to meet projects and client expectation requirements.

Physical Demands

  • Occasional lifting to a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Pushing, pulling, crouching, bending, and reaching frequently.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, gas, odors, animal dander, bedding waste and variability of seasonal climate.
  • Visual acuity and colour vision are required.
