    Mechanical Operations Manager - Morriston, ON

    We are seeking a skilled, highly motivated, people centric professional Mechanical Operations Manager to join our team at NAC.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in NAC's future success focusing on our mechanical division. This position is Head Office based, with travel to support our projects across Canada.

    The Mechanical Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing productivity and efficiency with the construction projects undertaken by NAC across Canada.

    This role involves analyzing cost codes, workforce hours as it relates to each of NAC's active projects in a macro and project specific view.

    As the Mechanical Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of growth mindset and prioritizing people within our organization as it relates to the interactions with other operations and within the realm of mechanical.

    Proactive planning, monitoring and overseeing the construction, assembly, and integration of mechanical components and systems to ensure the successful completion of our projects.

    Providing practical guidance and support to all applicable employees and contractors as it relates to the mechanical division.

    Mentoring and empowering superintendents to proactively plan, forecast and provide them with the skills and tools needed to succeed while leveraging data-driven insights to optimize performance and decision-making.

    Identify trends and inefficiencies in the field and provide insights and share strategies to optimize productivity and efficiency across various construction processes.

    As the Mechanical Operations Manager, you will be expected to:

    Identify and resolve construction-related issues, conflicts, and challenges in a timely and efficient manner, implementing corrective actions as needed to ensure project success.


    Data Analysis and Decision-Making:
    Utilize data analysis techniques to gather insights into construction performance metrics, project outcomes, and operational efficiency. Make data-based decisions to optimize resource allocation, workflow processes, and project strategies.

    Project Planning and Coordination:
    Oversee trade superintendents, collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop and consult on:
    Construction plans and work packs
    Project schedules
    Monitor productivity and on-site production as it relates to cost codes and meeting or beating budgeted workforce hours for mechanical systems installation in wastewater treatment plants

    Mechanical Construction and Constructability:

    Oversee trade superintendents who are responsible to lead the installation and alignment of mechanical equipment and systems, including pumps, motors, valves, piping, and instrumentation, according to engineering drawings and specifications.

    Construction Supervision &

    Productivity Management:
    Mentor and oversee all mechanical trade superintendents. Oversight of construction activities to optimize productivity, minimize costs, and meet project deadlines

    Quality Assurance:

    Monitor quality control measures to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of mechanical installations, conducting inspections and audits as necessary.


    Quality focus which includes ensuring compliance with:
    Project specifications
    Quality standards
    Crew management
    Forecasting project requirements

    Crew management:
    Hiring, development and performance management of tradespersons and hiring labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors, to optimize productivity, minimize costs, and meet project deadlines
    HSE Leadership "Safety first mentality": Ensuring awareness, compliance and enforcing safety protocols and procedures to promote a safe work environment and prevent incidents, injuries, and occupational hazards during construction activities


    Training and Development:

    Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and learning opportunities focused on key areas such as project management, communication skills, conflict resolution, and technical competencies relevant to trade superintendent roles.


    Performance Monitoring and Feedback:
    Establish performance metrics and KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of trade superintendents. Provide regular feedback, performance evaluations, and constructive coaching to support their professional growth and development.

    Foster strong collaboration and communication between trade superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of goals, priorities, and expectations.

    Encourage innovation and creativity among trade superintendents, empowering them to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and enhanced project delivery.


    Risk Management:
    Identify and mitigate risks that may impact construction productivity, such as delays, supply chain disruptions, or resource shortages.

    Stakeholder Communication:
    Collaborate closely with project and head office teams, to align productivity objectives and communicate progress effectively.

    Minimum of 10 years of field related experience in mechanical construction and installation, with a focus on wastewater and water purification treatment plants or similar industrial facilities.

    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent.
    Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
    Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and components used in wastewater treatment processes.
    Experience in management, construction supervision, and coaching and development of next generation trade superintendents and tradespersons.
    Familiarity with construction methods, techniques, and best practices in the field of mechanical construction.
    Leadership abilities, including the capacity to motivate teams, resolve conflicts, and drive project success.
    Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
    Willingness to travel and work in various locations as required by project assignments.
    Experience with construction management software and tools (e.g., Primavera, Procore, AutoCAD) is an asset.
