Purpose of Role:

The Account Manager is responsible for being the key customer contact and conduit to represent, support, specify, direct, secure opportunities and sell products and services provided by the Weir organization.

They will work closely with the Sales Manager and Product Managers to assist in the preparation of new commercial/trial proposals and the ongoing continuous improvement efforts for Weir's products.

They will maintain a solid understanding of all equipment or material trials, combined with any intelligence gathering on the performance of our competitors' equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Focus Area: Develop new business and increase opportunities for Weir's product range with their respective accounts by establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with customer's employees (reliability, maintenance, operations).
  • Focus Area: Interact with Field Engineers, Product Managers and Engineering team members with a solution solving mindset and have a solid understanding of all equipment or materials in the Weir product portfolio to provide technical and maintenance support, including technical problem solving onsite.
  • Focus Area: Provide accurate forecasts weekly and monthly to management; a business plan for the assigned accounts that covers all focused market segments, product technologies & services should be developed and executed to achieve and exceed budgeted input, output and EBIT objectives for accounts and region.
  • Focus Area: Close all opportunities within the delegated accounts or obtain detailed information on lost opportunities, including spotting trends, research and customer segmentation, competitive intelligence, competitive strategies, new product projects, and managing customer demands.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree (Engineering or Business)
  • 5+ years of industrial/mining sales experience
  • Prior knowledge of slurry pumps, cyclones, valves, and rubber products is preferred.
