To help achieve our business goals, Bruce Power Information Technology division is looking for experienced and talented Information Technology Technician to join our team.

This is a permanent, full-time position that offers competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on-site in Tiverton, Ontario.


Key Responsibilities- Perform the following duties associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of computerized office systems including microcomputers, computer terminals, communications equipment, local area network, equipment and peripherals.- Perform equipment installations.

Receive and review work orders, identifying any inaccuracies, omissions, or incompatibilities in equipment components. Follow-up with department analysts to resolve identified problems.- Install boards, components, and peripherals. Install discrete components (eg, PC's) on networks. Install terminals and printers.- Assist senior technician staff with major installation work as assigned. Load operating software, including communications drivers, using utilities and commands of the operating software.- Perform maintenance service work. Receive and review on-line deficiency reports.

Perform preliminary trouble diagnostics, contacting client to assess the nature of the reported problem and to determine possible cause of failure.- Use resource information available to draw necessary materials from stock and proceed with assignment in accordance with on-going unit work routines.- Use diagnostic software packages and a variety of test equipment (eg, digital volt meters, oscilloscopes, breakout boxes, datascopes, error analyzers, etc) to determine failed component.

Replace faulty components with spares, or, perform machine swaps.- Perform preventative maintenance as part of each service call. Prepare and submit service call documentation in accordance with unit work procedures.- Perform equipment repair work in the computer maintenance shop.

Refurbish and rebuild small peripheral devices (eg, printers, tape back-up units, etc), including dismantling, identifying and replacing worn parts, and performing testing routines to ensure restoration of device to peak operational state.- Carry out equipment modifications in accordance with Engineering Change Orders (ECO's).

As specifically assigned, or as part of a service call, alter components and boards including rewiring where necessary. Maintain parts inventory, including receiving goods into stock, monitoring inventory levels, and ordering stock at predetermined inventory levels.- Order parts for particular assignments upon Supervisor's authorization of the necessary documentation.

Ship parts to vendors for warranty or other repair, preparing necessary documentation and making all necessary shipping.- Maintain records, procedures, packaged software, reference and maintenance manuals related to systems operation.- Maintain an inventory control of computer equipment and related service logs for the Local Area Network (LAN).

Conduct annual inventory audits.- Maintain records of user access to the network system, record performance data for studies conducted, and update system documents to reflect changes made to the network system.- Maintain group lists in mail system on behalf of the user population and maintain a library of pertinent manuals for the use of staff. Give informal presentations to unit staff on information obtained through attendance at manufacturers and suppliers training courses.- Prepare presentation materials with a view to sharing the most important and relevant new technical information obtained.- Document individual discoveries of solutions to new problems while trouble-shooting or correcting equipment failures, for Supervisor's review.- Keep abreast of technology through on-the-job training, following trends as reported in industry literature, and keep informed of new technology for which maintenance will be required. Suggest possible solutions to problems encountered by self or others in the system.

Participate in vendor-organized meetings to assess new products for integration into LAN operation. Maintain an awareness of existing and emerging technologies and equipment.- Perform routine
