    SUMMARY


    Our Power Engineer plays an important role on our Maintenance team with troubleshooting and providing preventative and corrective maintenance support to production lines and facilitating equipment change-over.

    The Power Engineer will operate, maintain, and manage the equipment in the plant. The Power Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the facility runs at optimal production levels with minimal downtime. The role works in the areas of: pressurized systems, boilers, thermal engineering, ammonia systems, fluid mechanics, technical and basic instrumentation, and industrial electronics. The Power Engineer is responsible for working together with the rest of the Maintenance team to complete new projects, work orders, and follow a Preventive Maintenance Program.

    10pm to 6:30am

    Salary:


    $34.50 per hour + $0.75 Graveyard Premium

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


    1. Responsible for the maintenance and safe, consistent operation of the Steam Boiler Plant, Ammonia/Glycol Refrigeration Plant, Process System, and all related equipment.
    2. Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all HVAC and human comfort systems, including Air Handling Units, Make-Up Air Units, Supply and Exhaust Fans, etc.
    3. Complete daily logs and preventative maintenance schedules as required.
    4. Respond quickly to production requests for maintenance support to ensure minimum downtime.
    5. Anticipate machine failures and make changes or recommendations to prevent reoccurrence and minimize downtime.
    6. Troubleshoot problems and perform immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment.
    7. Ability to read and understand mechanical and control drawings.
    8. Install, maintain, inspect, and repair a wide variety of mechanical equipment.
    9. Perform equipment change-overs and production line set-ups.
    10. Work collaboratively with the Production and the rest of the Maintenance team to increase efficiency.
    11. Responsible for working safely and following all applicable WorkSafe BC regulations and complying with company policies.
    12. Reports observations of any deviation to the process and/or procedure or a defect or non-conformance to the product which may result in a situation requiring food safety assessment and placing product on hold or scrapping the product to the management immediately.
    13. Maintains a wide variety of power tools in good/safe working condition including annual safety inspections as required by WorkSafe BC Regulation.
    14. Complies and adheres to SQF, OHS, and GMP standards, requirements, and practices.
    15. Performs other duties or undertakes projects as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


    4th Class Power Engineer Certification

    Minimum 1 year of experience as a Power Engineer in a manufacturing environment with ammonia systems

    RELATED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES


    1. Ability to work overtime and weekend hours if required
    2. Knowledge of SOPs, HACCP, and Good Manufacturing Practices in the food industry an asset
    3. Knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations
    4. Able to deal tactfully and efficiently with all inquiries
    5. Ability to interact with various departments
    6. Self-directed and motivated team player
    7. Ability to prioritize under the pressure of tight deadlines and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
    8. Excellent communication skills, showing a high level of professionalism in written and verbal communications (English)
    9. Must have good computer skills (Microsoft Office)
    10. Determination and confidence to ensure issues are resolved
    11. Excellent eye for detail
