Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Our Public Health Division is looking for an Associate Medical Officer of Health to provide strategic direction and leadership to a team of Public Health professionals while ensuring the effective delivery of programs and services to the residents of Peel.

As the Associate Medical Officer of Health (AMOH) you will provide leadership, strategic direction and advice using evidence-informed decision making and you will be instrumental in working with Peel Public Health's divisional leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating program initiatives, and providing leadership and management.


Reporting to the Medical Officer of Health, you will be part of a team which includes Associate Medical Officers of Health, Divisional Directors, Managers, Supervisors and unionized and non-unionized employees who work to meet statutory obligations and contribute to the department's strategic goals and priorities.


Qualifications:


  • Must have eligibility for an independent practice certificate from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and specialty certification in
    Public Health and Preventive Medicine (formerly Community Medicine) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in order to be considered for this opportunity.
  • Must be competent to perform acts commonly delegated to staff in public health units (e.g., immunizations, STI testing)
  • Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written) are needed to function as a key liaison between Peel Public Health, stakeholders, the general public and health professionals.
  • Strong problemsolving skills are required to resolve issues that arise from the complexity of the work of the department.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change through a structured process to advance the strategic priorities of the department is essential to your success.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships, negotiate and resolve conflict with external/internal stakeholders is a key function of this role.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills for the preparation of reports, briefings, updates and presentations to key stakeholders including Councilors, media and the public.
  • Political astuteness, tact and diplomacy are a must.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the

_ 7120 Hurontario St. Mississauga _worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
