New employees must provide documentation of a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St.

Mary's General Hospital. **Staff will require clearance from Employee Health and Wellness before they are able to begin any position within SMGH.

**Position Summary: The Registered Practical Nurse working in Day Surgery at SMGH provides perioperative care to the adult population. The RPN is responsible and accountable for providing quality nursing care and serves in a professional and collaborative environment, where the healthcare team is interactive, supportive and committed to excellence and quality patient care.

**Position Requirements: Graduate of a Practical Nursing Program and currently registered, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Knowledge of NAPAN Standards

Demonstrated competent nursing skills including recent experience as an OR-Scrub Technician in a variety of surgical specialties

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)

Proven ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team in a fast paced environment

Established collaboration and communication skills with patients and health professionals

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Basic computer knowledge

Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position

Ability to attend work regularly; demonstrated by an acceptable attendance record
