Position Product Lead

Department Engineering

Location Richmond, B.C

Reports to Manager, Development Engineering


PURPOSE

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a crossfunctional core team through Manufacturing Release (Stage 4), Commercialization (Stage 5) and ultimately to End of Life (Stage 6);
  • Provide technical product support for respective Stage 4 & 5 products, including installation and commissioning support, incident responses, NCRs, and G8D's;
  • Investigate and implement cost reduction measures, including ECR/ECO's and the execution of WhiteWater's Legacy Program;
  • Oversee the creation of new or custom waterslide parts, design enhancements such as nozzles, injectors, dewatering, etc. in accordance with WhiteWater's Stage Gate process;
  • Provide technical direction and support to team members of various disciplines;
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of engineering documentation in accordance with WhiteWater's Stage Gate process;
  • Review and approve calculations, designs, and design documentation;
  • Lead and participate in design reviews to evaluate risks, costs, and fulfilment of requirements;
  • Lead and participate in testing and evaluation of products and features;
  • Participate in early development stage activities to foster an environment of knowledge sharing and aid the future transition of the product;
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with internal and external stakeholders to foster a teambased approach; and
  • Be accountable and responsible for the team's ability to achieve set metrics. Track and report progress relating to product programs, including preparing and maintaining schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum education requirement
  • Engineering degree from a Canadian university or foreign equivalent, or Technical diploma;
  • Registered professional engineer in Canada (P.Eng.) or US (P.E.) preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in product design and/or manufacturing environment; including experience with design, fabrication, assembly, and installation;
  • Experience and technical competence in a range of engineering skills and fields;
  • Experience troubleshooting and problemsolving complex mechanical systems;
  • Proven leadership skills and experience;
  • Project management experience; including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and planning;
  • Experience with composite materials would be an asset;
  • Experience with installation and commissioning of complex mechanical systems is preferred;
  • Experience with industry accepted risk assessment techniques, including FMEA, is preferred;
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and Product Data/Lifecycle Management systems is preferred;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including MS Project;
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada;
  • Ability to travel globally on shortterm basis for periods up to two weeks at a time (up to 20% per year); and
  • Must be able to travel globally without restrictions.
