Summary/Objective

This position handles managing various activities related to employee/labor relations and staffing functions for the company's Canadian operations.

Essential Functions

  • Partners with business leaders to support clocal, regional, and corporate aims including, but not limited to employee relations, diversity, workforce planning, organizational development, performance management, staffing, employment practices, rewards and recognition, payroll, benefits, and succession planning.
  • Responsible for all aspects of employee relations in assigned areas of responsibility, including consultation, conflict resolution, coaching, disciplinary actions, appeals, and working closely with management to resolve issues.
  • Conduct internal investigations, document findings/recommendations by setting up policy, and recommend resolutions to management.
  • Is the organization in contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employees and labor organizations?
  • Collaborates with legal counsel and other departments in the preparation for labor negotiations and other employmentrelated legal matters and responses.
  • Aids management team with the execution of counseling and progressive discipline on performance/attendance issues.
  • Develops and delivers employmentrelated training as needed.
  • Oversees payroll process for area of responsibility.
  • Creates and keeps strong, positive relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Works as a liaison for communication across all locations and keeps the team in the loop on the implementation of HR strategies, programs, practices, and issues.
  • Works as a thought leader who challenges the status quo while providing leadership strategic and tactical HR counsel.
  • Manages, coordinates, and oversees all aspects of Human Resources procedures in compliance with Federal, Provincial, and Local employment and related HR laws in areas such as AODA, ESA, and Employment Legislation.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure

  • Postsecondary education in human resource management or related field or equivalent level of experience, training, and education.
  • Minimum five years of HR experience including extensive knowledge of employee relations preferred.
  • Payroll and compensation experience
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) or other HR designation preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Bilingual is a plus.
  • Knowledge of immigration laws and processes.
  • Advanced ability in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) required.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable provincial and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements.
  • Analytical person with disputes by aiding management with winwin employee resolutions.
  • Maintains a cheerful outlook and working environment through organization and communication.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and exercise good judgment.

Pay:
Up to $120,000.00 per year
