Job Summary:


The ATS Corporation is expanding its IP team and is looking for an experience and self-motivated IP Clerk to help us on our growth journey.

This role is responsible for providing timely and professional administration of the ATS IP portfolio, with an emphasis on patents, and for driving a process for supporting high-quality patent-lifecycle decisions through a variety of key business stakeholders

What You Will Do:


File management:

  • Collaborate in designing, organizing, and operating a comprehensive paperless filemanagements system across the ATS Family of companies
  • Manage electronic files for the Corporate IP team;

Docket management:

  • Contact Intellectual Property Offices to resolve inquiries, status updates, changes to paperwork and follow ups;

Maintenance fee payments:

  • Responsible for timely payment of annuities and maintenance fees, either through thirdparty service providers or directly at national patent offices
  • Liaising with billing analyst on prebills and invoices;
Other Tasks

  • Drafting, managing, and filing of standardform agreements (e.g. assignments, declarations), either through thirdparty service providers or directly at national patent offices.
  • Portfolio maintenance and reporting: responsible for maintaining and providing reports on a current IP portfolio list across the ATS Family of companies
  • Requisition new files and maintain a record of all client files and client data;
  • Additional tasks as required.

What We Will Need:


Education

  • College law clerk program diploma (or equivalent)
  • Accreditation as a patent administrator in respect of any or all of the USPTO, EPO, or CIPO is preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with an intellectual property law firm or in a mediumtolarge corporate/commercial environment
  • Experience as an Intellectual Property Clerk in patents and trademarks
  • Previous exposure to trademarks administration, trade secrets management, and IP litigation is an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing laws and practices and constructive feedback;
  • Ability to liaise professionally and comfortable with to clients, lawyers, and government agencies;
  • Ability to work independently and within tight timelines;
  • Strong communication skills and a team player with a positive and proactive attitude;
  • Ability to project manage multiple files and lawyers' practices with a high attention to detail; and
  • Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
