As a Lab Technician you will:

Provide technical services in a lab and office environment;
Review soil and rock core samples and prepare borehole logs;
Provide technical assistance in materials related projects and tasks, including carrying out laboratory testing of various materials and if required on construction sites and obtain samples for testing in accordance with specifications.
Assist in construction site reconnaissance, inspections and observations;
Assist carrying out fieldwork inspections;
Use specialized equipment and apparatus to prepare analyses, reports and/or technical drawings;
Summarize and analyze findings from investigations and lab testing for report writing; and,
Work with and provide support to other members of the group in assisting with other field and office activities as required.

Must haves:

A College Diploma in a Civil Engineering Technician / Technology or Construction Engineering Technician / Technology diploma program, preferably with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering;
Previous experience working as a geotechnical lab technician;
Knowledge and experience of working with soil descriptions, soil classification, rock classification, rock descriptions, logging software gINT, MS Office, will be an asset;
CCIL Certification is preferred;
Must own a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and hold a valid driver's license;
Be able to carry up to 50lbs
Good written and verbal communication skills;
Strong organizational skills; and,
Knowledge of drilling procedures is an asset.
