Position Overview:


Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Sustainability, the Better Homes Burlington Coordinator will coordinate the implementation of the Better Homes Burlington Pilot Program in alignment with the City's Climate Action Plan.

Acting as a supportive resource to Burlington homeowners interested in improving energy efficiency, transitioning from the use of fossil fuels as well as improving climate resiliency.

Reporting on Better Homes Burlington pilot key performance indicators and lessons learned. Designing and coordinating public outreach and engagement with community partners for the pilot program.

The position will also assist in the implementation of other related climate action initiatives, such as the Electric Mobility Strategy, renewable energy, and resiliency measures for homes, particularly related to community engagement initiatives.

Acts as a community climate champion.

Responsibilities:


  • Comply with corporate and departmental policies and procedures
  • Ensure effective teamwork and communication with a high degree of service for all customers in accordance with City standards
  • Act as a supportive concierge to homeowners on the Better Homes Burlington Pilot program and share opportunities offered by other entities and/or senior levels of government for home energy and/or resiliency funding and incentive programs
  • Ensure ongoing communications and support for property owners through the entire energy upgrade finance process
  • Coordinate public engagement and communications strategy for the Better Homes Burlington program with community partners and City's communications staff, including webinars and workshops with program participants and residents
  • Create and maintain project tracking database for the program
  • Maintain workplans, working files and documentation relating to the Better Homes Burlington Pilot to ensure information is current
  • Monitor and assess implementation of program, including feedback from participants and staff, documenting all issues, risks, lessons learned, and program successes
  • Report on lessons learned from the Better Homes Burlington Pilot with recommendations for improvement
  • Support other environmental sustainability initiatives as necessary, such as implementation of the Electric Mobility Strategy, renewable energy initiatives, and climate resiliency measures

Requirements:

A Post secondary education in a related discipline or field. (i.e. sustainability, energy management, engineering) or equivalent experience.

A minimum of (two to three)2-3 years experience with energy efficiency/management and renewable energy background preferred, particularly in the residential sector, with familiarity of energy incentive programs.

Energy related certifications or designations, such as Energy Adviser or CEM are considered assets.***This position requires understanding of the principles of climate change actions and energy efficiency measures/actions.

Familiarity with community energy retrofit programs and residential energy retrofit technologies/measures (i.e. air source heat pumps, insulation, etc.). Excellent computer skills, including MS Excel and MS Word.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex technical and financial data - experience with energy modelling and/or experience with RETScreen Professional (or other) considered an asset.


Strong communication skills (oral and written) and ability to translate and share technical information through plain language with homeowners through one-on-one communication, workshops, promotional material, etc.

Experience in project coordination or project management. Excellent organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Analytical, project management and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple, complex assignments with tight deadlines. Demonstrated skills working with multi-disciplinary teams.
