Program Manager - Skilled TradesPrevious Experience:
- 35 years of progressive program and/or project management and coordination experience
- Experience working with adult education, employment and training sectors
- 35 years of human resources management experience or supervisory experience including recruiting and interviewing
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Primarily remote/work from home with occasional inperson meetings
- Monday to Friday with flexible hours
- Program Manager must be flexible to work occasional weekends and evenings if required
OTHER CONDITIONS:
- Program Manager must be able to travel to various communities across Ontario, during all weather conditions
- Program Manager should be able to lift, carry, and manage various equipment and supplies.
- The employee may be required to manage workload and hours under to complete special requests or projects.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of Ontario Apprenticeship program and requirements and other regulatory bodies would be an asset but not required
- Knowledge of potential employment trends / developments in the Construction, Industrial, Motive-Power & Services Sectors would be an asset but not required
- Knowledge of project/program management
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, news and trends would be an asset but not required
- Understanding the business needs and requirements in the 4 Sectors would be an asset but not required
- Ability to effectively present to or facilitate small or large groups
- Ability to work independently and with a great team
- Ability to adapt in a fastchanging environment
- Experience in Leadership
- Experience with the full cycle recruitment process
- Excellent customer/client service skills
- Excellent employer engagement and retention skills
- Ability to foster ongoing relationships with all parties
- Comfortable with technology including but not limited to Outlook, Word Processing, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint etc.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
- Coordinate with mentors regarding apprentice relationship
- Assisting with Ministry, TDA's, apprentices and their employers, to ensure apprentices complete levelled schooling releases
- Provide knowledge, guidance and coaching regarding funding available for apprenticeship pathways for stakeholders (employers and apprentices), including budgeting or financial literacy
- Mentor and coach apprentices in areas of essential softskills; including but not limited to jobseeking preparation, resume updating, interview and communication skills, employer outreach, and networking.
- Support and guide apprentice journey to completion including preparation for certification exams
- Participation on various Advisory Committees with Colleges and other stakeholders
- Facilitate and manage Local Apprenticeship Committee (LACs) meetings, with support from Operations
- Employer outreach new or existing employers including employer associations
- Apprentice outreach to new or existing apprentices
- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with ministry contacts, community groups, partners, employment agencies and/or organizations, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the program
- Assist in building relationships with Provincial School Boards (Elementary & Secondary, specifically OYAP, Coop, Dual-Credit & SHSM programs), Colleges & Training Delivery Agents (TDA's)
- Representing SOY at industry related events
