Overview:

Term: 1 year


The Digital Media Marketing Co-ordinator will report to the Manager, Strategic Digital Experience and be responsible for the day-to-day content gathering, research and development of video content for the Co-operative and Experiential Education social media accounts.

They will help create and distribute content optimized for our social media platforms and support the work of the Digital Experience team in the planning, development, execution and evaluation of the department's social media, marketing and video content to enhance our public reach, student and employer engagement, employer retention and department reputation.


Responsibilities:

Planning, communication and content creation

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate video and photography content for social media platforms
  • Create media assets (e.g., photography, video) for social media
  • Assist the Video Specialist with video capture during event and profile (student / employer) shoots
  • Assist the Digital Marketing Specialist with content for marketing campaign development
  • Assist the Digital Community and Media Specialist with the CEE social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and others as required
  • Assist the Video Specialist with the CEE YouTube channel
  • Manage the logistics of photography and video shoots for social media
  • Conduct environmental scans and competitive analyses
  • Manage and contribute to a CEE library of shared content
  • Acts as a backup to the Digital Community and Media Specialist with responding on platforms as questions/comments arise
Collaboration and outreach

  • Work closely with all CEE units to enable them to promote, protect and enhance their reputation through video and social media
  • Attend key events and generate content (live coverage, photos, videos, etc.) to engage the CEE community (including alumni and prospective employers) in meaningful and impactful ways
  • Network with University colleagues involved with video to share best practices and content, as applicable
  • Provide training and support for CEE staff to improve their effective use of video and social media channels
Quality control

  • Ensure excellence and consistency in photography, video and social media communications
  • Aid in the reporting of data to demonstrate reach and impact of video and other social media initiatives
  • Remain current on issues, trends, technologies, demands and approaches in digital marketing to determine and advise on implementing new initiatives as applicable
  • Develop and align social media materials with the University and legislated standards, guidelines and policies
  • Ensure the University of Waterloo branding standards are maintained, and that messaging and style guidelines are consistent in all social media materials
Other

  • Writes and produces original content to support CEE priorities and deliverables in alignment with the CEE communications plan
  • Assists the Digital Experience team to manage routine website updates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience preferably in communications, marketing, media studies, advertising, business
  • 23 years of social media management, photography and video experience
  • 12 years of writing social media content and campaigns
  • 12 years of project management experience
  • Skilled videography experience with knowledge of filming and editing software
  • Strong photography skills and videography skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format; and build and maintain internal and external relationships
  • A tactical, selfstarter that can work under mínimal supervision and navigate multiple relationships and audiences
  • Strong marketing writing and editing skills
  • Design skills with experience using creative design software, videography/editing/animation, photography and digital content creation
  • Project management skills, with proven ability to meet milestones and deliverable objectives
  • Indepth knowledge and understanding of online communities and social media platforms
  • Keen sense of responsive client service
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment and meet deadlines
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to keep up with changes on social media platforms
  • Knowledge of Cooperative and Experiential Education and the University of Waterloo as a whole, as well as understanding the unique community that is the University of Waterloo is an asset
  • Experience in professional video camera operation, lighting, and audio recording. Experience using Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Video production skills including concept creation, script writing, storyboarding, shooting, direction, animation, editing, and mastering final project
  • Knowledgeable about usability and accessibility for video production and video distribut
