LifeLabs is currently seeking a dedicated Medical Lab Assistant to become part of our team in London, ON (746 Baseline Rd).

    As a Medical Lab Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the testing and diagnostic procedures for a diverse range of patients. This is a part-time position with flexible morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts to ensure work-life balance, with up to 20 hours per week. LifeLabs also offers first aid training, continuous learning opportunities, and excellent possibilities for career progression.

    The successful candidate must be available for all shifts between 8am-1:00am, including Saturdays. The initial training period will be one month at full-time hours.

    Key responsibilities in this role include:

    • Unpacking and organizing various incoming specimens from sources such as physicians, clinics, hospitals, and mobile LifeLabs technicians.
    • Verifying the accuracy of all patient information on requisitions and specimen samples, addressing any issues or errors prior to testing, and entering necessary data.
    • Preparing, organizing, and categorizing specimens for technical analysis.
    • Addressing client inquiries and collaborating with the logistics department.
    • Training and guiding new team members.
    • Performing routine maintenance on laboratory equipment weekly and monthly.
    • Executing all tasks in compliance with laboratory safety and security protocols and regulations.

    The ideal candidate for this role is an organized, detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving and customer service capabilities. Desired qualities include flexibility, accountability, and attention to detail. Additional requirements comprise:

    • Completion of a recognized Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) program.
    • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting, with a keen focus on detail, prioritization, and multitasking.
    • Proficiency in data entry and computer operations.
    • Dedication to staying up-to-date with company practices, training, policies, and procedures.
    • Preferable experience in laboratory operations or medical terminology.
    • Ability to collaborate within a team environment.
    • Effective communication with internal and external departments.
    • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

    Hiring Range:

    The salary range has been determined; however, the final salary offer will be based on experience level, educational requirements, market conditions, and internal equity.
