The Manitoba government is seeking a highly motivated Carpenter to work with the Asset Management Division of Labour, Consumer Protection and Government Services.

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Red Seal journeyperson Carpenter's licence.
- Valid class 5 driver's licence with the ability to travel within District 2 as required.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, additional security checks may be required.
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position for extended periods of time (e.g. working alone, operating equipment, exposure to varied weather conditions, crawling, climbing ladders & scaffolds, vibrations, noise, dust, lifting up to 25kg, and wearing personal protective equipment).
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience working in carpentry construction and maintenance within a commercial, industrial and/or institutional facility.
- Knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health Act, safety policies, and safe work procedures.
- Ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and to show initiative in problemsolving/solutions
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and the general public.
Desired:
- Knowledge of the Manitoba Fire and Building code
- Knowledge of fireseparation.
Duties:
- The Carpenter will be responsible for performing duties at a journeyman level in the carpentry trade at Headingley Correctional Centre. Responsibilities include the maintenance and repair of building structures, roofs, walls, windows, doors, locks, flooring, woodwork, cabinetry, furniture, etc. The position utilizes, updates and maintains an established Preventative Maintenance/work order system and related reports and documents, and may coordinate and monitor projects performed by outside contractors and ensure compliance with the Manitoba Fire and Building Codes, safety regulations and departmental policies._
