    Situated within the shared, unceded territory of the Li̓ lwat7úl (L̓ ílwat People) and S̓ ḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish People), the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is a vibrant destination resort community, local government organization, and leader in providing municipal programs, services, progressive planning, and infrastructure.     The Legislative Services department of the Corporate Services and Public Safety division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Legislative and Privacy Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager of Legislative Services, this position offers 72 hours bi-weekly starting immediately.

    The Legislative and Privacy Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, to act as the Resort Municipality of Whistler's (RMOW) main liaison in privacy issues, including breach reporting, administration of the Whistler Cemetery, and managing the annual filings of all municipal corporations. The Legislative and Privacy Coordinator must also read and interpret the Community Charter, Local Government Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, RMOW bylaws and other legislation. This position assists with local government elections and offers general ongoing support and assistance to the Manager, Legislative Services/Corporate Officer.

    Qualified candidates will have completed a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as law, public administration or political science and extensive training and/or experience in FOI and privacy procedures supplemented by at least three to five years of experience in a similar role. Experience in a local government setting is preferred and legal training and/or risk management training would be considered strong assets. Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communications skills and the proven ability to effectively interpret and apply legislation in complex environments with a broad knowledge of municipal legislation and legislative process including election procedures and guidelines. Candidates must also be proficient with Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint Online and website content management software.
