    Description

    Job Description

    Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and efficient performance of all laboratory methods
  • Perform method optimization, verification and validation as needed
  • Write SOP's and Work Instructions
  • Assist Quality Department in performing method audits
  • Train technicians on laboratory methods, techniques and best practices
  • Review method-matrix compatibility for daily samples
  • Review and validate results as needed – monitor and supervise validation process and procedures
  • Ensure laboratory controls are validated and performed accurately and reviewed regularly
  • Investigate OOS results and non-conformances as needed
  • Assist management in planning and development activities
  • Support customer service, sales and marketing teams with technical knowledge
  • Advise customers with technical expertise
  • Ensure effective performance of laboratory instrumentation (uptime, maintenance, service contracts, troubleshooting)

    • Qualifications

    Technical competences // Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years at commercial Food chemistry testing laboratory
  • Competent/experienced and confident in performing food chemistry testing methods (various gravimetric and proximate methods, "wet-chemistry" methods, fiber, elements, fats and sugars etc.)
  • Working knowledge of a variety of instruments (GC-FID, GCMS, HPLC, ICP-MS etc.)
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems
  • Applicable education (BSc/MSc in chemistry or related field).
  • Beneficial but not mandatory: exposure and understanding of specialty testing areas: vitamins, mycotoxins, pesticides and other contaminants, macronutrients (like proteins), etc.
  • Beneficial, but not mandatory: 1+ year experience in a leadership position (group leader, supervisor or team leader)
  • Beneficial, but not mandatory: experience in reorganizations/ growth spurts at a food chemistry laboratory.
  • Beneficial, but not mandatory: formal Lean training or have participated in Kaizen or 6-sigma events
