Finance Manager
What is the opportunity?
This is a challenging key role within the Wealth Management Financial Control team.
You will be a leading part of the team that ensures that appropriate controls and processes are in place to support the accuracy and completeness of WM balance sheet and income statement and provide accounting interpretation, guidance and advice on transactions as they arise.
What you will do?
- Support Retail business client accounts for WM under 4 Legal Entities by preparing and booking the more complex monthly journal entries including Allocation and Reclassification entries to comply with OSFI requirements
- Ensure error free monthly attestation for set GL accounts and continue to follow through issues to ensure that balances properly tied back to source system and that breaks are resolved in a timely manner effectively
- Manage and reconcile legal provisions with the Law Group reporting for the platform
- Support Canadian WM and GAM by carrying out the monthly close for specific businesses and items including adjusting entries, balance sheet account reconciliation and GL attestation
- Review management tax model, pass monthly tax entries coordinate investigation of modelled vs. actual tax differences
- Liaise with Internal and external auditors by providing complete and necessary information to satisfy audit requests
- Collaborate with different Finance and Operations team by providing advice if necessary on the more complex entries
- Coordinate SoD second level review and BRAG refresh for platform, perform second level review for accounts not covered by regional FC teams
- Report issues to VP and Financial Controller and liaise with GL Attestation Centre of Excellence
- Provide actionable guidance to LoB Finance leaders considering new business and changes to accounting standards/reporting requirements, liaising with APG and FRR where needed, document in accounting memos
- Coordinate Finance response to Project Approval Requests
- Coordinate Quarterly Assurance Review and Liaise with SOX Office and Internal Audit on SOX control reviews and testing
Must-have
- 2+ years' of professional experience, preferably in the Financial Services Industry
- Accounting Designation (such as CPA) or actively pursuing CPA or other finance designation
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong client service orientation willingness to take all issues through to a successful resolution
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and concisely summarize complex issues
- Welldeveloped and proven written and oral communication skills
Nice to Have
- Previous experience working in Financial Services/Wealth Management Finance area
