    Default job background
    Description

Our mission is to build the next generation of animal care for the modern world. By leveraging technology and design, we are reimagining the animal care experience for pets, pet parents, and care providers from the ground up. With the consumer and pet at the heart of everything we do, we seek to rebuild the way veterinary medicine is delivered and disrupt a traditional industry across every customer touchpoint and interaction.

We are hiring a Lead Doctor of Veterinary Medicine to help lead medical operations and build excellence across the clinic's care team. This role will be responsible for ensuring doctor growth and for adhering to gold standards of care for our pet patients. Reporting into the Head of Veterinary Medicine, the leader in this role will have expertise in developing exceptional veterinary teams and implementing processes with efficiency, as well as excellent team building and communication skills while thriving in a cross-functional environment.

In this role we are looking for a leader who is passionate about reimagining how we care for our pets and the people who provide care for them, and is excited about leading a team of doctors to help bring this into reality. This role is based in-clinic and will work closely with the clinic's Practice Manager in order to build a positive and supportive working environment as well as demonstrate consistent care for our care teams.

    What you'll do:

    • Hold ultimate responsibility for doctor growth and development within the clinic, medical excellence, positive team sentiment, and member feedback performance for the clinic
    • In partnership with the Practice Manager, you will coach, develop, and inspire clinic leaders and their teams through active listening and being of service to the team
    • Be relentless in your drive and focus to ensure the clinic is the best place to be a veterinary professional
    • Work closely with the Head of Veterinary Medicine and other Lead DVMs to collaborate and consolidate feedback in order to implement change
    • Collaborate with the Practice Manager to drive the clinic's overall performance as it relates to medical quality, member experience, and employee engagement while building and contributing to an environment of continuous learning and development for the full team
    • Collaborate with the RVT team and Clinic Operations team to ensure medical excellence at all levels, consistently serving as a key resource and 'advisor'
    • Partner with the Practice Manager to implement, roll-out, and ensure compliance with gold standards of medical practice and patient care within the clinic
    • Be a leader in implementation of the Juno Brand Tenets to ensure the team has maximum job love and supports one another to be better
    • Lead by example and participate in initiatives that support the health and wellness of the clinic team by making choices that support the overall job love of the team helping to make the veterinary profession at Juno sustainable and inspirational
    • Work cross-functionally and collaboratively with internal partners in an effort to support our clinic teams and execute on operational goals
    • Aid in conflict resolution across the clinic leaders and work with People Operations as needed to build future clinic leadership within the doctor team
    • A desire to mentor new hires and new grads

    You have:

    • A DVM/VMD degree and the ability to practice veterinary medicine in Ontario
    • 4+ years experience in general medicine and surgery
    • Previous leadership experience
    • A passion for Juno's mission to provide a superior experience for both pets and our care team
    • The ability to prioritize, stay organized and be a source of leadership and mentorship to the doctors in clinic
    • A collaborative mindset and an openness to learn and grow
    • The desire to elevate others and develop the team of in-clinic doctors

    Our promise to you:

    • Full and comprehensive benefits package including access to mental health support, continuing education, and mentorship opportunities
    • A collaborative team who has your back and will welcome you as part of the pack
    • Time for you and loved ones: great PTO, paid parental leave, discounted Juno Vet services for pets
    • Opportunity to make a big impact and positive difference for those around you and for the veterinary industry

We're looking for people who are not just team players, but also leaders. If you've made it this far, you're probably looking for something different than what's already out there. So were we — let's meet.

The role of Lead DVM at Juno may require evening and weekend work, managing direct reports as well as working closely with the team Leads working with members who may be experiencing emotional distress and/or frustration, as well as managing challenging members and patients. This position will be based in our clinic with occasional travel required locally for training and cross functional meetings with our Clinic Support Centre team.
