BUSINESS PLANNING ANALYST

FACULTY OF BUSINESS, ENVIRONMENT, AND TECHNOLOGY


NorQuesters are difference makers and we're searching for someone to carry out financial processes, contract control, human resources support, and legislative compliance business processes as a Business Planning Analyst for our Faculty of Business, Environment, and Technology (FBET) and Continuing Education (ConEd) teams.


Reporting to the Manager, Business Planning, the Business Planning Analyst prepares and analyzes the overall budget, budgets for contract training, open-enrolment, and grants for ConEd.

This role will be crucial as we look to establish feasibility and sustainability for ConEd for 2030 and beyond.

The Business Planning Analyst proactively assists the Manager, Business Planning in all areas of their functions and operates with a high degree of confidentiality, initiative, and resourcefulness, anticipating needs, solving problems, and creating iterative improvements to processes.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Prepare budget, forecast, and variance analysis for Continuing Education.
  • Prepare budgets and costing analysis for various contract training proposals, openenrolment, and grants for Continuing Education.
  • Provide financial management support to the Faculty.
  • Participate in financial planning and HR processing.
  • Provide support in the budgeting process and revenue and expense tracking, including the preparation of journal entries.
  • Carry out financial procedures related to tracking and monitoring of expenses and revenue, visa reconciliations, coding, and processing of invoices.
  • Assist in grant reporting and proposal creation.
  • Identify, design, map, and implement process improvements that align with college policies and procedures.
  • Submit all FBET & ConEd required HR position management paperwork.
  • Prepare and submit all casual commencement documentation and extension assignment agreements.
  • Submit all new user requests forms, staff change forms, and leaving the college clearance forms, keeping track of their status.
  • Prepare position management tracking report and monthly vacancy reports.
  • Submit asset requests and track assets.
  • Assist and maintain quality assurance in Contract Control with established processes and followups.
  • Process contract and amendments per the college contract framework guidelines, tracking location of contracts and amendments with timelines for easy follow up.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Degree in Business or Accounting.
  • 3+ years' experience in finance and administration, preferably in a postsecondary environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS365, particularly Word and Excel.
  • PeopleSoft knowledge would be an asset.
  • Must be able to work with mínimal supervision and possess a high degree of confidentiality with tactful business acumen.
  • Strong analytic and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to perform in a high volume, fastpaced work environment with excellent time management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

SALARY:
$54,028 - $70,193 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) and includes immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
