    Who we are looking for?

    Due to continuing strong growth, our Tailings and Mine waste services we are looking for an experienced Senior Tailings and Dams Engineer based in Western Canada , to complement our existing Dams and Tailings team. GHD has a significant profile in tailings management and mine waste services for Tier 1 mining clients. We have an integrated team across Australia, North America and South America and are well represented on recognized associations such as ICOLD and ANCOLD.

    As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for directing and managing small to medium project teams and working within the wider GHD tailings and dams' community. Substantial experience in tailings dams and mine waste engineering is essential, ideally in a consulting environment.

    Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Play a key technical and project management role, often in multi-disciplinary teams for planning, feasibility studies, detailed design and construction areas
  • Undertake dam safety inspections and risk assessments to satisfy dam safety requirements
  • Lead project teams for dam and geotechnical design, including dam foundations, embankment dam stability, hydraulic analysis, water balance, deposition planning and groundwater analysis
  • Scope and deliver geological/geotechnical investigations to support tailings projects
  • Prepare construction documentation
  • Provide construction support and field engineering for tailings storage facility projects
  • Contribute to client relationship development, both nationally and internationally using internal and external networks
  • Mentor and train other GHD staff

    • What you will bring to this role:

  • Engineering degree from an accredited university in Geological, Geotechnical or Civil engineering
  • Registered . in Canada
  • Substantial experience in tailings dams and mine waste engineering, ideally in a consulting environment, and relevant postgraduate qualifications are preferred.
