WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY CURATORIAL PROGRAMMING FELLOWSHIP


Working directly under the supervision of one of TIFF's International Programmers, the WBD Curatorial Programming Fellow will develop an understanding of the pre-screening of select festival submissions, specific to territories or film genre, the craft of copywriting and administrative acumen for scheduling, hosting and facilitation for various programming events.


FELLOWSHIP OVERVIEW- Pre-screening both solicited and unsolicited feature film submissions to the Festival from the relevant territories weekly Writing reports on screened films, according to established templates, and uploading them to the relevant database record in a timely manner Recommending films to the assigned Programmer, according to established judging protocol Assisting with programme note writing, as directed Conducting community outreach for the Festival's selection according to established processes of the Festival Programming, Marketing and Communications, and Loyalty and Engagement teams. Liaising with guests and Film Coordinator(s) of the relevant Programmer in advance of and during the Festival Hosting guests of the relevant Programmer during the Festival. Coordinating Festival events for the relevant Programmer Introducing films and moderating Q&As, whether in-person or online via TIFF's digital platform, as directed. Attend meeting switch the festival Director of Programming, Chief Programming Officer and other relevant programming staff Organize and attend professional development and informational meeting with various festival programmers Attend regular progress check-ins with Senior Manager, Director or staff representative


ELIGIBILITY:


  • This role is funded by Warner Bros. Access Canada. To be eligible you must satisfy the following criteria

a) must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident

b) must be nineteen (19) years of age or older

c) must identify as a member of the following communities Indigenous, Black, People of colour, people with disabilities, LGBTQ2IA+, and Francophone members of the aforementioned communities.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Possess a good working knowledge of the film industry and world cinema with an emphasis on US Independent, French, Italian and/or Canadian Film;
  • Demonstrative writing experience (notes, criticism, essays, articles) considered an asset;
  • Demonstrate excellent administrative and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail;
  • Have a memory for names, positions, companies, and situations;
  • Possess mature personal judgment, exhibiting a high level of professionalism and diplomacy;
  • Possess an ability to handle difficult situations and people with aplomb and grace;
  • Excellent phone and livevideo conferencing manner, communication fluency, and interpersonal skills;
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large groups and interacting with audiences;Proven ability to provide high quality work within strict deadlines.
