The Parks and Road Services (PARS) branch in our City Operations department has an immediate opening for a full-time / permanent Public Engagement Advisor to lead various engagement initiatives in support of our Vision Zero / Safe Mobility programs.


We are seeking a collaborative and highly organized team member who is concerned about safe mobility issues, supportive of citizen empowerment and deeply committed to inclusivity.

A focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments — Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent — are necessary for success.

The main responsibilities of this fast-paced / high-volume role are:

  • Develop thoughtful public engagement plans that align with project needs
  • Advise project teams on public engagement strategies, tactics and tools
  • Assist with stakeholder identification and analysis
  • Champion GBA Plus considerations in all engagements
  • Plan / participate with inperson events
  • Monitor the public's participation in engagement activities and events
  • Analyze and synthesize public engagement feedback
  • Work closely with the Community Activation team, plus Research and Communications
  • Draft 'What We Heard' reports and other project documentation

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Community Development, Planning, Communications, Public Relations or a related field
  • Membership or training by the International Association of Public Participation (or other formal public engagement training) is an asset
  • Positive attitude, commitment to work respectfully and collaboratively, and selfinitiative in a complex / highvolume environment
  • Experience planning and facilitating meetings / workshops with internal / external stakeholders
  • Proven project management skills and a workflow efficiency mindset
  • Experience with inclusive engagement approaches (e.g., Gender Based Analysis Plus)
  • Proficient in using and learning various software programs, including Google Workspace is required; experience with a mapping tool is an asset
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. This position may require occasional evening and weekend work.
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.

Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
