Working for the School of Dentistry**The School of Dentistry has been at the University of Alberta since 1917 and is part of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the College of Health Sciences. The school serves an integral role in educating a part of the healthcare workforce in Alberta and beyond.

The school offers undergraduate programs in Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, and Dental Assisting. We offer graduate programs in Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Oral Biology, Oral Medicine, Orthodontics and Periodontology.


There are 24 Faculty, 42 Academic Teaching Staff (ATS), and over 200 Excluded Academic staff, that are supported by the Student & Academic Services unit.

Position Summary


This role is responsible for instructional design and instructor support, management of course and program development, and varying student support.

The Curriculum Delivery & Instructional Support Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and curriculum delivery; this involves:

- partnering with instructors and academic leaders to provide a pedagogical framework to drive course design decisions and promote the "best practices" of technology integration;
- providing support to faculty, staff, and students across a multitude of online databases and programs (Google Suite, eClass, Office Suite, Zoom,.med Suite, Campus Solutions, etc.);
- and coordinating support for projects that will impact and improve the delivery of existing learning curriculums.


Duties

  • Provides consultation to instructors and staff regarding ethical and/or philosophical issues relevant to educational technology (e.g. equity, copyright, plagiarism, privacy, safety, etiquette, and responsible use)
  • Researches and identifies emerging technologies for future dissemination across the Faculty
  • Pilots new technologies within the faculty
  • Supports the creation of technical resources for the delivery of online, blended, and webenhanced education
  • Use eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, H5P) to build interactive and engaging eLearning modules
  • Develop resources (e.g., course materials, instructional videos, online quizzes, etc) to support academic staff development involving curriculum design and delivery
  • Coordinate and support academic staff development through facilitation of courses, workshops, consultation, and observation
  • Provide consultation from the pedagogical perspective, and troubleshooting support for the design and implementation of digital learning programs like eClass, Zoom, , MedSIS, , etc
  • Provide consultation services to academic staff on issues related to instructional practices, active learning, and delivery of online, blended, and webenhanced education
  • Coach faculty on the use of technology to deliver and support instruction (Zoom, eClass)
  • Collaborate with faculty for the development of courses, including the building of courses within digital environments
  • Support the 'Curriculum for Learners' model and teaching and learning framework
  • Promote use and awareness of resources, expertise, equipment and facilities
  • Coordinate and participate in events that promote teaching and learning
  • Support and contribute to the overall administr
