- Two years Architectural Technologies diploma or related diploma.
- One year experience in land development or land use planning.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence.
Key Skills and Abilities - Ability to read and interpret bylaws, maps, legal documents, land title information, relevant legislation, building and site plans.
- Computer literate with experience in land management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Engage with fellow employees, the public and outside agencies in a courteous manner.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Maintain composure and find solutions when dealing with difficult customers.
- Understand and apply methods of land use planning.
The successful applicant will be a team player focused on providing outstanding service to the public and to other RDEK departments and employees.
The RDEK offers an attractive total compensation package, which includes a competitive salary, excellent benefits, a modified workweek, and learning opportunities. This is a permanent, full- time (35 hours per week) Union position with an hourly rate of $37.51, with an increase to $39.38/hour after a successful probation period.

Development Clerk
Reporting to the Planning Supervisor, the Development Clerk provides client-focused planning and development services which require a thorough knowledge of RDEK zoning bylaws, land use regulations, application procedures, and personal computers and related applications. Based out of the Cranbrook office, the work includes examining building permit applications for compliance with RDEK land use regulations; responding to planning related public inquiries; and processing minor land use applications.
