ROLE OVERVIEW
***: The Manager, Regional Development, and Employment Readiness will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of the commitments of NexGen's IBA/MBA regarding the economic development and training programs throughout the Local Priority Area. The incumbent will work with both the Director of Employment and Training and the Director of Regional Development, administering the strategies and processes regarding business development with the Nation partners and working with all stakeholders to support the people of the LPA in the transition from training to employment. Working closely with NexGen's management team they will ensure that the procurement processes in place are followed and assist with employment readiness that is in alignment with the overall goals and objectives of NexGen and all Projects being undertaken.


The incumbent will partner closely with the Indigenous communities that NexGen is working with and will have a strong focus on all the communities within the Local Priority Area (LPA).

The incumbent will be responsible for building partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations and ensuring that the economic development, training programs, and services provided are culturally appropriate and responsive to the needs of NexGen and the communities.

They will be responsible for the administrative tasks when it comes to NexGen's commitments with procurement processes and assisting with developing and delivering training programs that help Indigenous people and community members of the LPA acquire the skills and qualifications needed to work in the uranium mining industry.

With the development and delivery of the training programs, the Manager of Regional Development & Employment Readiness is also responsible for tracking and reporting on the success and outcomes of the training programs.


It's important to note that working in a uranium mine comes with specific hazards and safety precautions that need to be taken, so the manager would also be responsible for ensuring all the training and development programs align with the safety standards and regulations of the industry.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

(including but not limited to):


  • Partner and provide leadership to maintaining effective relationships with Indigenous peoples across different communities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Company's Indigenous partners and contractors to ensure culture alignment and sensitivity.
  • Collaborate with all NexGen departments to ensure ongoing dialogue on the importance of Indigenous relations and engagement.
  • Implement training and employment strategies in line with IBA/MBA commitments that support business, employment, and training objectives. Support the planning, execution, and documentation of all training activities, including coordinating meetings and logistics for different training events.
  • Monitor and report on training programs to ensure they are effective and efficient. Develop and prepare the Budget for the training and development programs established. Implement a strong reporting and training tracking system to measure retention and effectiveness.
  • Partner with leadership to identify professional development opportunities for future employees graduating from the training initiatives.
  • Integrate with the Project Development team / NexGen EPCM partners /Indigenous partners. Collaborate with the Project Development Team in the transmitting and organizing of early Business Opportunity Notices for all the Indigenous communities.
  • Take minutes in various formal Engagement meetings, ensuring relationships are maintained, actions progressed, and alignment of interests upheld.
  • Represent NexGen on the Implementation Committees, Environment Committees, and Joint Working Groups, as required.
  • Stay wellinformed of the latest developments in the uranium mining industry and adapt the training and development programs accordingly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • University Degree in Education, Communication, Human Resources, or related field as required.
  • 10+ years of relevant training experience, preferably in the mining industry. Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, onthejob or inclassroom training, elearning, workshops, simulations, etc.)
  • Proven track record in facilitating diverse groups across different levels. Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Selfstarter that drives ownership and accountability.
