We are looking for a Corporate Trust Officer who has the drive and ambition to work in a challenging role, managing and administering a portfolio of client accounts.

A Corporate Trust Officer is involved in taking on new business mandates which includes the negotiation of various agreements and ensuring Computershare can administer the mandate while protecting Computershare's interests from risk.

The position includes providing exceptional service to corporate clients, their legal counsel and investors.


Primary Accountabilities

  • Negotiate the terms of a variety of agreements and other legal documentation for corporate financings of varying complexity in order to meet the standards adequate for the protection of Computershare.
  • Represent Computershare in managing a portfolio of accounts, including dealing with legal counsel and/or senior officers of client companies on a variety of matters, e.g., attendance at closing and meetings of security holders, in accordance with the requirement of the agreements.
  • Provide direction to administrators and/or related departments in relation to the portfolio.
  • Ensure/monitor compliance with all agreements by Computershare and clients.
  • Involved in aspects of accounts payable and receivables.
  • Maintain necessary standards of knowledge and expertise in applicable areas of law, commerce, corporate finance and securities markets as well as internal policies and procedures.

What will you bring to the role?


As you've probably gathered by now, we are looking for somebody with a real passion for learning and growing in the area of Trust Services.


Other key skills required for the role include:

  • University Degree (law, business, commerce). LL.B. and admission to a provincial Bar.
  • Canadian Securities Course or other Securities Industry training (preferred).
  • 23 years' experience in financial, corporate/commercial or securities industry at an intermediate or professional level or at least 1 year experience as articled student or practicing lawyer
  • Demonstrated understanding of legal framework of trust administration and capital markets
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Exceptional customer and negotiation skills
  • Ability to deal with conflicting demands under pressure
  • Knowledge of business procedures, standards, policies, and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively manage, direct, lead and coordinate the work of others
  • Sets strong ethical standards with integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness in all professional relationships
