How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Conservation Golf & Parks, the Assistant Supervisor, Conservation Golf & Parks is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of TRCA's public-use facilities including Bathurst Glen Golf Course (70%), Bruces Mill Conservation Park (20%) & Lake St.

George Field Center (10%).

The Assistant Supervisor, Conservation Golf & Parks coordinates daily golf course & driving range maintenance and plant health practices similar to a golf superintendent and completes preventative equipment & facility maintenance.

They may also help to oversee clubhouse & event operations.

Assistant Supervisor, Conservation Golf & Parks works closely with the Supervisory and Managerial team to inform comprehensive planning processes, and functions as an onsite liaison, addressing internal and external queries and requests that pertain to site operations.

The Assistant Supervisor, Conservation Golf & Parks provides daily direction to a diverse seasonal staff team. They facilitate job training, assigns tasks, demonstrates best practices and procedures, and provides ongoing motivation.

Additionally, the Assistant Supervisor, Conservation Golf & Parks completes a variety of administrative tasks, including inspection and maintenance records, training documentation, inventory management and processing of transactional entries.

Overall, this position plays an integral role in sustaining facility operations in the areas of risk management, conflict resolution and customer service, the Assistant Supervisor, Conservation Golf & Parks ensures that TRCA's public-use facilities meet the highest possible standard of excellence to provide safe, functional and welcome environments for all visitors, clients and staff.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Plays a key role in supporting the safe and successful operation and maintenance of multiple revenuegenerating recreational facilities, which may feature:
  • Golf Course & Driving Ranges,
  • Conservation Parks and Trails; and
  • General infrastructure (i.e., irrigation systems, buildings, parking lots, paved roadways, gravel pathways, mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems, plumbing and water filtration systems, and emergency systems).
  • Manages daily programs (e.g., turf maintenance & golf & park operations.). Participates in program planning and development activities. Informs the Supervisor of new concepts and/or possible program enhancements.
  • Performs preventative equipment and infrastructure maintenance on a regular basis, which may include:
  • Inspecting, cleaning and servicing small engine equipment (e.g. chain saws, push-mowers, and grass trimmers);
  • Inspecting, cleaning and servicing vehicles (e.g., fleet vehicles, utility vehicles, rideon mowers, etc.) and arranging for servicing.
  • Completes small carpentry projects, minor plumbing repairs, and a variety of unique, sitespecific tasks as required, including planning and coordination activities for special projects, such as building refurbishments. May be required to source contractors.
  • Supports the Supervisor and operations team in maintaining facility infrastructure and equipment. Performs regular site inspections. Identifies and reports deficiencies and safety concerns. Consults with Supervisor and implements risk management protocol. Evaluates impacts and completes followsup as required.
  • Ensures that staff adheres to best practices in the safe handling, use and storage of hazardous materials and equipment, including mechanical fluids and cleaning supplies. Ensures all MSDS sheets are uptodate and accessible.
  • Participates in health and safety discussions. May sit on staff Health and Safety Committee as a divisional representative, attending regular meetings and contributing to the overall improvement of corporate risk management practices and site safety.
  • Identifies and intercepts potentially hazardous activities, (e.g., staff member who is not adhering to safety practices). Redirects activities as appropriate and takes appropri
