JOHN NOBLE HOME BACKGROUND:


The
John Noble Home (JNH) is a "Class A" facility and has a proud and long-standing care-giving tradition, dating back to 1881.

Today, we offer several different quality programs devoted to senior housing, care, and services that operate within our care campus.

All meet and serve the needs of both Brant County and the City of Brantford and their respective constituents as we are a municipally operated and governed facility.

The John Noble Home consists of 156 long term care beds with planned expansion, a community-based day & stay program and senior's apartments.

Casual Positions Available.

Must be available to work various shifts over weekends and holidays.

***: Provides resident clothing and Home linens for residents and staff use. Responsible for the cleaning of all residents' personal clothes and linen, and delivery of clothing and linen to the residents and Resident Home Areas (RHA). Also responsible for processing of linen and specialty linen used by other departments. Label resident clothing. Clean work area and equipment. Liaise with residents, families and staff re clothing items. Work in accordance with all the Policies and Procedures of the Home. While performing any and all duties of the position the employee will work in a safe and healthy manner and will follow the regulations outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act as outlined in the organization Health & Safety Policy, Infection Control and safe work procedures.


Participates in the provision of resident focused care in a home-like environment, respecting the individuality and dignity of each resident/family and co-worker by supporting on-going operations of laundry services through completion of general laundry duties.


Some Key duties of the position are:
Sort dirty laundry. Personal clothing is to be sorted and placed in the respective bin categories.


The bins are as follows:
light personal, dark personal, underwear, socks and sweaters, and blankets. General linen is to be sorted into dirty linen bins in the wash area.


Categories of general linen include:
mops, floor pads, laundry bags and cleaning cloths.

Deliver and place clean clothes in appropriate resident's wardrobe/dresser.

Label all resident clothing using the computer program for labels.

Maintain resident clothing list.

Wipe down machines at the end of each shift.

Keep work area free of dust and debris.

Follows the Home's Health and Safety rules and regulations.

Be familiar with the Home's policies and procedures and attend in-service programs as required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Grade 12 graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge and experience commercial laundry operations and equipment, an asset.
  • Experience in a Long-Term Care setting, an asset
  • Current WHMIS certification an asset
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and personal initiative
  • Physically capable of performing all assigned duties
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
