Serving the justice sector, the Corporate Management Services Branch (CMSB) strives to provide excellence in corporate services of the Ministry of Attorney General, the Ministry of Housing,and the Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General.

CMSB provides central corporate services to all staff and branches/programs in the sector.

We lead the preparation of budget submissions and financial reporting, and provide oversight, progress reports, and expert advice while performing day to day functions for our clients related to finances, strategic human resources, facilities (including Shared Services), communications and corporate risk and security.


We are the lead strategic link between our partners, government central agencies (Treasury Board staff, Office of the Comptroller General, and Office of the Chief Information Officer) and shared services agencies.

The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing expert advice related to planning, reporting, and analysis of financial information to assist in the delivery of Ministry programs and services.

More specifically, the Financial Analyst provides forecasting services, facilitates accounting operations, establishes financial controls, and ensures financial management practices are compliant with applicable legislation, accounting frameworks and best practices.


Job Requirements:


  • Degree or diploma in public/business administration, finance, or related discipline;
    OR:
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in financial and/or management accounting.
  • Experience in managing relationships at a senior management level while providing advice to support executive decisions.
  • Experience conducting analytical research to support short
- and long-term budget management and planning.

  • Experience developing and/or maintaining complex spreadsheets; preparing financial statements and reports and developing and maintaining budget and expenditure forecasting tools.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Enrolled in the CPA program or hold a CPA designation.
  • Experience in financial and/or management accounting in a government environment.
  • Completion of Financial Management Certificate Program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience utilizing Corporate Accounting System (CAS), CAS Data Warehouse and/or Budget and Chart of Accounts (BCOA) and Capital Planning Secretariat (CPS) system.
